worst called game i have ever seen. the officials were bad both ways but at the end of the game they literally handed the game to clay. the no call on thornsberry's layup was unexplainable and then they called a foul on him as he tied up the ball. clay hits 2 to go up 3 instead of the eagles shooting for the lead??????????????????????BlindWhiteHat wrote:From what I have seen, any crew containing Bill Cook should be banned.Burg_Grad_77 wrote:That crew of Bill Cook and the One Armed Bandit should be banned from officiating. hard to say the game was handed to Clay on that one bad call, after it took about 5 bad calls to get Eastern in the game after they were down 8 points with less than a minute to play. I agree the calls were horrible all night, but before you can point to that call you have to look at all the ones that got Eastern back in the game.Eaglesnest wrote:worst called game i have ever seen. the officials were bad both ways but at the end of the game they literally handed the game to clay. the no call on thornsberry's layup was unexplainable and then they called a foul on him as he tied up the ball. clay hits 2 to go up 3 instead of the eagles shooting for the lead??????????????????????BlindWhiteHat wrote:From what I have seen, any crew containing Bill Cook should be banned.Burg_Grad_77 wrote:That crew of Bill Cook and the One Armed Bandit should be banned from officiating. CLAY........ 16 15 15 19 65
EASTERN... 13 14 13 20 60
Clay jumped out to an 8 - 0 , before Eastern hit their first 3 pointer. Clay pushed the lead up to 14 - 3 before Eastern hit two more 3's making it 14 - 9. Clay never trailed in the game until 1:55 left in the game, when after being up 9 points Eastern again hit a couple of big threes to take a 58 - 57 lead. They didn't hold it long, Clay managed to score after back to back turnovers by each team and hit their foul shots at the end to hold onto the 5 point lead.
Eastern played outstanding defense on Clay's guards, keeping them from driving the lane and scoring, and obviously scouted them on the three point shooting woes they have been having, leaving them open to take the shots. Clay only took three trey's hitting two of them. What Clay did different tonight tonight was keeping the two big men down in the paint, dumping the ball into one and the other cuts thru the lane. Graham scored 17 points, Porter gets 14 points. Best night for them as a tandem all year.
This win sets up a three way tie with Symmes Valley, Green (after tonights loss to SV) and Clay all sitting with two losses. SV has to play Eastern tomorrow night and Friday night. I see them splitting those game, or Eastern taking them both. In my mind, they are the better team. The season is going to come down to the final night to determine SOC champs. Good luck to the Panthers, win out the rest of your games and your guaranteed at least a share of the SOC I title.
BTW, Clay had a very nice size crowd on hand. Great to see that much support on such a horrible night for driving. Heard of three wrecks tonight.

Re: Clay @ Eastern 02-01-11
i wasnt at the game so i wont say anything about the officiating but i went to green at clay and it was physical as well. it seems like in these contest were a win or loss can determine the soc1 champ the refs are letting the players get away with some fouls especially at the end of the game. good win for clay tonight tough loss for eastern but with clay still playing green one more time anything can happen. what a game sounds like clays best team performance all year. it will be interesting to see who wins the symmes valley eastern games post the games if you hear anything please

Oh my---such foul language and name-calling. I would expect a more intellectual response from a fellow Beatles fan. i would be glad to have an adult conversation with you about why your posts are so inane, but maybe name-calling is the best you can do.

Thronsberry's layup at the end might have been a foul but clay players drove in 3 or 4 times during the game, got hacked, and there was no foul call. It was just the way the refs were calling the game. Also, when a team is down and trying to foul the ref is antisipating the call, so you hardly ever get a jump ball. Good hard fought game by both teams. unfourtantley, it probably knocks eastern out of winning the soc. symmes valley has to play eastern twice this week and I do not see symmes beating them, even at symmes. clay and green game next week looks to be the deciding game for the champion.

Everytime I've seen Bill Cook, he's been pretty good? Of course I wasn't at that game however, but if you mean the one-arm bandit from Symmes Valley, then yes he is absolutely horrible! I didn't think he was allowed to ref anywhere outside of Willow Wood.Burg_Grad_77 wrote:How about with 9 seconds left in the game, Eastern inbounds the ball, makes 2 or 3 passes, gets off a shot that misses and only 1.5 seconds run off the clock and the officials huddle and decide to do nothing. Classic!!live4sport wrote:I went to check this game out just out of curiosity. It looked like to me Eastern has a lot of skill players but lacks any size in the post. They just couldn't match up with Clay's big bodies. It was a great game but I was really suprised at how physical the refs let this game get. Rough both ways-------horrible calls both ways-----still a good game. congrats Clay.
That crew of Bill Cook and the One Armed Bandit should be banned from officiating. They are horrible.

When I saw Cook and the one arm ref walk out on the court, I said to the person next to me, "one side or the other is going to leave here ticked off", because they always call such bad games. IMO, those two called most of the bad calls against Clay all night, the other guy, from what I saw was the best of the three, yet some Eastern fans chased him down the tunnel.

Your post deserved no better. "I'll save people some reading on this thread for after the game. If Clay loses, it is Coach Trainer's fault and if Clay wins, the boys overcame horrible coaching to win on their own."Dean wrote:Oh my---such foul language and name-calling. No one ever has a problem blaming losses on the kids, but say one thing about the coach and your attacked by the remoras. I state my opinion, you can agree or disagree, I don't care, but instead it's just the same old song, "The coach can't shoot the ball". So if you want to talk about Clay basketball, stay on subject. How about this for starters, Clays losses to New Boston and Symmes Valley, they went 1 - 15 and 2 -21 from the three. Most of the misses in the New Boston game were early, when they were up. Same with SV, missing their first 15 while they were up. So how long does a coach set and watch them miss shot after shot before he does something? If a boy shoots 12 threes and misses them all, yet stays in the game, is that his fault, or the coaches? In the Eastern game, they only took 3 threes. Do you think the boys decided that on their own, I doubt it, this team loves taking the three shot. That decision and dropping the two big men down is what won them the game, so you first post was not only out of line, it was wrong.
