That is not the Valley sectional bracket. That is one of the Athens district brackets which shows the sectional games as well. There should be 2 Athens district brackets which will show a mixture of the Valley and Wellston brackets as those two sectionals combine to make the two Athens district brackets.rockyraccoon wrote:http://brackets.ohsaa.org/bracket.aspx? ... 4&dv=4&g=b
I think I found the bracket to the Valley Sectionals.

Re: Southeast District D4 Rankings 2-9-11
I found the other bracket as well, but they don't show what seeds go into each position. Still looks like the top 6 seeds only need to win one game to make it to the Convo.
I assume 1 plays winner of 9/10, 2 plays winner of 7/8, 3 plays 6, and 4 plays 5.

Re: Southeast District D4 Rankings 2-9-11
Valley Sectional 2-22-11 7 vs 10 and 8 vs 9 winners advance to Sectional final
3-1-11 and 3-2-11--- 3 vs 6 / 4 vs 5 winners to District 1 vs (8 or 9) / 2 vs (7 or 10)
seeds 1-6 play 1 game for a sectional championship because of 4 sectional champions this year compared with only 2 last year.
Much easier to advance to the Convo! 2 district champs this year instead of 1 and they play each other in the Regional Semifinal at the Convo. The best Southeast District team will be in the Regional Final at the Barn playing for the right to play in the Schott!
My seeds are still:
1. South Webster
2. Manchester
3. Green
4. Clay
5. Fairfield
6. Whiteoak
7. Notre Dame
8. New Boston
9. East
10. Western
The coalition could do this:
1. Manchester
2. South Webster
3. Green
4. Fairfield
5. Whiteoak
6. Clay
7. Notre Dame
8. New Boston
9. East
10. Western

I think Clay will beat Green Friday night and move up a spot. I thought Manchester was supposed to have some tough games this week. Did they cancel them until after seeding?
I found the answer to my question, Manchester and Fairfield cancelled last nights game until the 19th. Convenient, since they only beat them by 1 point in the last match.

If Clay beats Green, then they definitely should be ranked ahead of them.
Manchester plays Ironton tomorrow night at Manchester and South Webster is at Waverly

Re: Southeast District D4 Rankings 2-9-11
What would be the purpose of the "coalition" to put Manchester #1 over SW?
Re: Southeast District D4 Rankings 2-9-11
South Webster doesn't belong to the coalition.
And other than that I have no idea. Just tweeking. The coalition doesn't care about 1 or 2.

1. Green
2. South Webster
3. Manchester
4. Clay
5. Notre Dame

Re: Southeast District D4 Rankings 2-9-11
If the "coalition" places any school other than SW or Manchester in the top 2 spots, then there needs to be some serious complaints raised with the Southeastern Ohio Board and OHSAA. If it would happen to Webster, I'd stop scheduling the SOC I schools in this sectional (other SOC I schools, lower level OVC and TVC schools could easily fill the schedule). With that being said, last year putting Green in the #2 spot was such an embarrassment that hopefully those SOC I coaches remember the animosity it created toward their league and won't do anything as blatantly biased this year.*

Re: Southeast District D4 Rankings 2-9-11
I don't know if they do it the same way in basketball as they do in soccer, but I sat thru a soccer seeding in which a team who should have been 2 seed didn't show up (truck broke down) and it was decided they would be put at the bottom. Then all teams were seeded to #5 by coaches vote, with Clay being passed over by teams they had beat. When it finally came time to put Clay in the #6 seed, it was decided to put the team that didn't show up at #6, because the #1 seed realized they would have to play them sooner if they were put at the bottom. It was a farce.

In Lucasville #7 plays #10 winner plays #2 and winner advances to OU. #8 plays #9 winner plays #1 and winner advances to OU. #3 plays #6 and #4 plays #5 and each winner advances to OU. 4 teams will advance to the district only #7 - #10 would have to win 2 games to advance to OU all the others will advance with one win.rockyraccoon wrote:I found the other bracket as well, but they don't show what seeds go into each position. Wellston is essentially the same with #8 and #9 playing with the winner to play #1. 4 teams advance to OU and only #8 or #9 has to win 2 games to advance.

Re: Southeast District D4 Rankings 2-9-11
SOC is scared of the SHL they are going to put the SHL against each other if they can. SOC has always sucked and always will.
Re: Southeast District D4 Rankings 2-9-11
Hounds: You are correct----the SHL has all those state championships and Manchester is feared around the state.
Re: Southeast District D4 Rankings 2-9-11
How many teams have the SHL sent to the final 4 recently? How many state champs?HoundsAre4Real wrote:SOC is scared of the SHL they are going to put the SHL against each other if they can. SOC has always sucked and always will.

Don't understand this logic, if it seeds out as predicted Fairfield plays Whiteoak as #4 and #5, but then Green would have to play Clay as the #3 and #6. At least that way one SHL team will advance as opposed to them both being eliminated.HoundsAre4Real wrote:SOC is scared of the SHL they are going to put the SHL against each other if they can. Re: Southeast District D4 Rankings 2-9-11
Rocky: They think if Green has to play Whiteoak and Clay has to play Fairfield that the SHL teams will win and BOTH will get out. If the seeds are done fairly I believe we will get to see that scenario play-out and then we will know!
I believe that Green and Clay match up pretty well with Whiteoak and Fairfield and would love to watch those games.

HoundsAre4Real is making the common error that SHL people make by not distinguishing between the SOC1 and the SOC2. He is obviously (I hope) referring to the SOC 1. I dont condone his statement in any way but just wanted to clarify where I think he is coming from. If you dont respect the SOC2 year after year than you dont know a whole lot about basketball.
As Sunday approaches, I am leaning more and more to the following scenario, I am just not sure how the SOC coaches will decide (between Green/Clay) who gets the easy game and who gets the tough game. Who knows maybe they will all make an agreement that the winner this weekend gets the higher seed and Notre Dame in the process?
1. South Webster (14-3)
2. Manchester (15-3)
3. Green (13-5)
4. Clay (11-8)
5. Fairfield (8-9)
6. Notre Dame (8-11)
7. Whiteoak (7-11)
8. New Boston (4-15)
9. East (1-16)
10. Western (0-18)

Re: Southeast District D4 Rankings 2-9-11
Just want to open people's eyes to the reality of the situation because I really dont think some people understand the level of basketball being played by the teams involved. Right now (2-11-11) Fairfield is playing completely even with Manchester - if they would play 10 times the two teams would probably split right down the middle 5-5. So for all those people saying "Manchester is clearly the #2 seed" = Fairfield is just as good as they are right now!!! I am not kidding!!! Whiteoak is just a small notch below these two teams with some arguing that they are even with them as well.svbt1112 wrote:Rocky: They think if Green has to play Whiteoak and Clay has to play Fairfield that the SHL teams will win and BOTH will get out. So my question is - Can Clay and Green beat Manchester with any consistency? If you are answering no to this question than re-read what I just wrote above.
Re: Southeast District D4 Rankings 2-9-11
I don't believe I ever said anything about Clay or Green not being able to beat Fairfield or Whiteoak.....but I have said over and over I believe the coaches will once again make it so we'll never know.
Manchester beating Ironton and Green winning again will make it 100% fishy if Whiteoak/Fairfield/Manchester play each other in any way. I'm not saying the SOC wouldn't win the games versus the SHL....I'm saying no way in this world should the SHL teams knock each other out this year.
