First let me say I thought Vinton Co. played a very good game. Congratulations to them and good luck in the tourny..

Eagle73 - you have a flare for overstating the obvious...lol

I see it this way... we played a game, and we lost.
As a result are we more ready for tournament time? I think absolutely.
Did we fail to execute in the last two minutes? Yes, but don't forget about the character the boys showed overcomming the deficit to regain the lead. Your deficiencies are only shown aginst opponets like this. Players learn from mistakes and are more prepared the next time they face similiar situations. We get over it and move on.

Oh, BTW... The team everyone is complaining aboiut has a shot at doing something no Piketon basketball team has ever done before...(G O L D B A L L!!!) and has a solid shot at the district finials thanks to teams like Vinton Co....

Congrats to Coach Combs, I'll bet if you asked him watching Piketon film or at an actual scout, he was like wow, they are athletic and talented and we will have to play great to beat them. Sounds like they did. I think Piketon on paper is a better team, but they play to the competition way too much and rarely make change during the game.

It is my hope that when one thinks of a Coach Combs led Vinton County team, the casual observer should see two things; they were prepared and they play hard. I hope that over the last seven season or so, that has become our signature. Furthermore, sometimes we do not care about the scoreboard, we will not embarrass anyone and if we are on the other end of it, Coach Combs will not coach to make a score look better in tomorrow's paper. At the end of the day; Were we prepared? and Did we play hard? If we had done those two things, we have been on the winning side, more than 75% of the time.

Keep in mind that the Streaks, now 16-2, have lost to Div. 2 Zanesville (16-2 I believe and ranked in the top 10 in state) and Div. 2 Vinton County (14-3 I believe.) Nothing for them to hang their heads about. We'll see what happens in the tourney.

People overlook VC because they do have 2 bad losses, but have also had a good run of good wins and very well coached. Good players mixed with good coaching will lead to many victories, it's pretty simple.

People don't over-value Piketon, IMO. They are a very good, athletic team. They are also very well coached and rarely do anything to beat themselves(although it sounds like they did Saturday)
Their biggest hole is outside shooting(if you box out) If they start to get hot from the outside or just get up to 30-35% from midrange to 3, then they'll be VERY difficult to beat in the tournament. I haven't seen the stats on this game, but I'm willing to guess that they didn't shoot well from range.
