I hear UA has a few more students than Warren Local? Is this true?
Ironman 92
Boys:
UA 685
Warren 356
Warren looked slow tonight. Two week layoff probably did not help. Seems like UA got alot of easy looks and I bet they shot 60% from the floor. Hope we can learn from this!!
This surprised me I thought Warren would give them a game,Upper Arlington is not that good with 4 losses but their school size and comp they see must have been enough to dominate this game.
upper arlington hardly the class of ohio d1. D2 st clairsville as dspy points out beat them. French and Patton showed they can play with them.UA had no size advantage. The difference as ive been saying is guard play. Warren is extremely weak at guard. Hall a non factor. Put the two guards from UA on warren and give them two players other than patton and french and warren smokes them by the same score.
Incidentally ive watched alot of D1 basketball and UA was by no means what i would call quick or fast. Warren was lazy. Maddox is doing the right thing playing up- he needs to do alot more of it. Warren has along ways to go and i dont see an answer at guard. Its a shame shon smith didnt stay at warren. The two UA guards especially the lefty was just savvy. Nice player. My opinion here is based on warren being able to get a district title. They are a fine program with talent but i see weaknessses that complete teams will expose.
Shon moved idk four or five years ago. He went from Barlow to Beverly. Warren has enough athletes. I say try Adam at point and rotate between Yabs and Pannell. Halls court awareness isnt ready for whats to come.
No the Warriors didn't play very well! Now that's out of the way let me start by saying I'm very proud of the Warriors. After a tuff 1st half they competed and kept pace the 2nd half. Many of the kids that are being critizied, were in fact their 1st time playing in "PRIMETIME". The very fact they hadn't played for 14 days and UA had played 2 pretty competive games in the previous week were all factors in the loss. But isn't that the reason that you schedule games like this? How many times do you see a team lose in regular season then beat that same team come tourney time?
This group of kids have played 6 basketball games together. I'm quite sure that after a 22 game schedule come tourney time they'll have addressed the decencies so eloquently described.
Every team has ups and downs. Every team grows into an identity. You don't do it in 6 games.
To call the kids lazy was just wrong! How many of the the people on this forum posting under a screen name make their living making the decisions as to who can play the game? ( Scouts, College Coaches) ill bet not many.
