I have been to 3 Minford games. After all 3, I have walked away wondering what in the heck Minford is trying to do on offense. Everyone in the gym can see that McCray is dominant inside, but the offense doesnt consist of him getting the ball. Dribble around the arc, throw up a three and hope McCray gets a board and puts it back up. This has nothing to do with the kids as they have talent all over the floor.

Tonight I wondered why it took Minford so long to go to a full court press. Or why they stayed in a zone defense when SW was just trying to run the clock out and limit possessions in the 3rd and 4th quarter. Why not go man to man and not let SW run the clock down?

Minford has arguably the best player in the area followed by McCray, Stapleton, Gullion and Howard with some depth on the bench. Its time to implement some changes on offense and defense or this season will go down as alot of wasted talent.

Congrats to South Webster on the win.

The stats I have on the game Bleeding Red are
McCray 4 for 12 = 33%
McBee 10 for 21 = 48 %
Stapleton 2 for 8 = 25%
Gullion 0 for 9 = 0 %
You shoot the ball that poorly not going to win many games
I'm not even going to breakdown free throws bc that was well ...
Fundamentals Fundamentals Fundamentals !!!

I know the focus is on how bad Minford played, but maybe the Jeeps' lockdown defense had something to do with it? Webster will have nights where they struggle to score, but their defense will always keep them in games. Credit to Coach Ater and his staff there.

As for the Falcons, give them time. It's a long season and they'll be there at the end in that 17-5 range and a threat to get to Regionals. The posts questioning Coach Shoe are embarrassing...almost reminiscent of the "20-0 or Lowe must go" days in Lucasville.*

The jeeps executed exactly like I thought they would tonight by utilizing their speed down the floor. McCray is a force inside but he's not getting back on defense quick enough to stop Cook or Goddard from driving it in. Good game by Dyer keeping a body on him all night as well. He only had 3 points on the night but he kept McCray in check for the most part.

Well said art_vandelay! No wonder kids are so disrespectful, they hear their own parents talk about their coaches. People need to run their mouth less and start supporting their schools. With that said, the season is young, Minford was bad tonight, but they will get better.
GO FALCONS!

Minford has a history of not playing well at a few places... SW is one of them. Falcons will right the ship, just need a big win over NA on friday.

Wow what was shoematcher thinking he made some crazy decisions! First presses clay in 4th quarter up 50 and then down 10 tnite I don't think he pressed? I do not understand

Jeeps played good tho defense was good. Mcbray is a load inside someone told me hes getting d1 looks in baseball??

If you were watching the game, Webster was quicker than Minford. It was obvious in the first quarter that Minford was slower than Webster.

And...To keep the record straight, Minford DID NOT press 4th quarter against Clay. Minford played half court man.

Really thought that my Mighty Minford Falcons would be unstoppable this year with all of our "new" players!

Hard to be unstoppable with a shooting percentage such as this. Minford's in a shooting slump. Hopefully these kids will find their shot soon!

Thats what happens when you dribble around the 3 point line and chuck up shots. Again, they would not have any loses this year if they would just work the ball inside to McCray. He has great hands and can pass it back out if needed be for open shots.

The Falcons started the game off too slow of pace. Webster is quick with lots of speed and if you don't play at the same pace - well, you see what happens. Webster flat out beat us down the floor!

They need to start trusting each other and having confidence in the boys that come in off of the bench. I noticed several times last night where we would push the ball inside and Webster would be all over us but we wouldn't kick it back out to an open shooter - they all need to play as a TEAM ! Look around the court and kick it to the open guy! If the starters can't do it then put the bench in!
I also noticed the bench players would come in, pass the ball, and then they would be wide open, but the starters wouldn't pass it back for them to shoot - don't understand?
They don't let everyone contribute as a team but they all have to lose as a team. They have to play together!
You CAN NOT win ball games with shooting percentages like the Falcons had last night and you CAN NOT win ball games forcing 3 point shots - shots that go in the baskets win games! If the starters can't do it then put the bench in.
We also need to start setting picks to help open the shooters up for shots - we have got to do that if we want to win.

This team will be fine. They just need to have faith and play together as a team!

I love my Falcons and TOGETHER - they will go far!!!!

It is taking a little longer for them to figure it out than what I thought, but give them time and Mcvee will find a way to get this team rolling.

Bleeding Red, Evidently you didn't read McCray's stats that I posted and you quoted...4 for 12 = 33%. Looks like Minford did get the ball to McCray and he like others couldn't find his shot. I saw many times when he kicked it back out (like you quoted you think he should do) for the guards to shoot it. Maybe that's why the guards have more shots put up than McCray. So I think the Falcons did exactly what you said they need to do, yet you're still complaining...go figure! Put some of that negative energy towards CHEERING YOUR TEAM ON!

I cant imagine the people in Minford are very happy. Im sure the people behind the scenes felt like they had everything they needed to dominate this year. Maybe they can work some magic ;-) and get things the way they want it. I think those coaches will figure it all out.

I'm sure the coaches will figure it out! It's early and season has just begun. People need to be patient, the Falcons will start meshing soon.

Or it could be that the Jeeps are way better than people expected coming into the year. (Would love to know what happened at Oak Hill)
I know they have been better than I expected.

Lets give the Jeeps credit for the win instead of the constant drone of excuses for Minford.

Great job Jeeps! Keep up the good work.

No player on Minford are world beaters. I did like the steal at the end and bucket for McLee. He just wants to get his. Very cocky attitude and I'm not sure why??? Good win for the Jeeps though, you got to give them ALL the credit!
Haters gonna Hate and that's ok. I think Minford expected haters this year. Minford's good, they just need to start meshing. I did love the steal at the end of the game! BTW, it's McBee and he's entitled to his. He's a great player and another reason you're a hater.
