If WU makes a few free throws, they come away with a much deserved win as the score was within a bucket until late fouls to stop the clock. Beau was shut down for maybe the first time in his career with tenacious defense all night and got frustrated, scored 11 of his 19 from the free throw line, 6 of which were at the end of the game to stop the clock, only had 2 points at the half. Arrasmith, Schmitz, and Ireton were the difference makers for Peebles and hit several clutch shots. Not sure I agree with your assessment of Gordley, he still plays like a young player and couldn't quite hang with the pressure defense and physical plays of the bigs of WU but certainly will develop in future years. Great atmosphere and glad to see WU headed in the right direction to make a great rivalry once again. Can't wait for the next matchup between these two fine teams.
I did not notice any glaring difficulties. He was active trying to go after rebounds against a bigger team, he didn't turn the ball over more than the average player, and got himself in positions to score given limited time. Gordley makes decisions typical of a freshman learning to play against a level of competition he has not seen to this point. Eventually he will be one of the better players in the league.

Great game, intense, tourny type atmosphere. In the end WU shot itself in the foot. Missed FT was more than double the margin of loss. 3 straight turnovers in the start of the 3rd qtr hurt them with 2 being unforced. But it stinks to lose and I know the coaching staff and players won't be satisfied it was a big step for the program. Thought the Peebes Point guard came up huge last night and Justice took wat WU gave him, a sign of a great player. And as far a Def on Beau it and be expected, and it just happened the others were on. Kudos to them, but WU will be tougher for tourny and will learn from their mistakes that cost them this upset. As far as Gordley goes, he steps into a tourny type atmosphere and scores, rebounds and thought he played very well fr a freshmen and the minutes he got, didn't hurt his team. He will be a stud to add to a great returning roster next year.
