UKPROF: during their peewee season it is about making sure the kids are grasping the fundamentals of basketball. Not about "thumping" your chest talking about how many games you have won and teams that you have beat. I want to make sure the kids are ready for high school, WHERE RECORDS COUNT!! last time I checked i thought AAU/OYB was established for traveling and playing the best of the best. Youth (school team) basketball is not designed for that, at least not teams that I coach. I am sure a varsity Head Coach would much rather know his kids are learning fundamentals and all kids are being developed versus traveling all over the place and playing the same 7 to 8 kids all the time. But just to let you know most of the kids have and still play AAU basketball ( where they play very good competition!)
