Re: Peebles vs Hiland
I personally don’t think so, Coach Arey is a excellent bench Coach and Peebles doesn’t give up

Hiland is the favorite. Good schedule, good players, better prepared.

Re: Peebles vs Hiland
Oak Hill would have beaten Garaway that badly too if they would have played in December. Teams catch up to The Oaks as the season progresses.
Currently passing through Peebles on the way to Winton Woods (Cincinnati). Smells different. What is that?
Wait— Smells like Winners.
Great season Indians. Not many had you pegged as last Southeast Team standing in D3/D4. I hope you put 32 minutes together tomorrow night. Team Fundamental (Hiland) is in your way. Good luck!

I joined for one big reason - to thank LucasD for his updates on the regional games. All Hiland games are broadcasted on WKLM and streamed on WKLM and the Voice of Holmes County. But I was really interested in the other game, couldn't find any radio to stream, and LucasD was awesome. I appreciated the little insights to help me understand what was happening. Thanks man!
I'm also from down there. Born in King's Daughters Hospital, native of Boyd Co, Kentucky, moved across the river and attended South Point and Rock Hill. Played football and baseball for the Redmen. I quit basketball my junior year because the coach was a sadistic SOB and he wouldn't give me one week to heal from football before starting basketball. I told him that they never won anything anyway. Then they won the OVC the next two years - which shows how much they needed me. Lol. Went to college, earned a couple of degrees, fell in love with a girl from New Phila, and decided to become Amish (well, at least live among them). My kids went to Hiland, a Hawk and a Lady Hawk. They played in 4 final fours between them. Both played their last games at the Schott.
I have popped in here from time to time over the years to see how Rock Hill, Ironton, Wburg, OVC, and other SEO teams were doing.
When I first moved up here, people would ask me if I was from Alabama because of my accent. I would just proudly tell them that the accent was pure Appalachian hillbilly. My accent is pretty much gone, but I can slip back into it pretty easily when I go down there for a weekend visit. Lol.
Anyway, thanks for letting me be a part of your group. I doubt I will post much, but if you want to know about a NEO team, don't hesitate to ask me. I follow HS sports pretty closely up here, but if I don't know much about a team, I generally know someone who does.

LucasDavenport don't stop at the McDonalds, come on up to the White star or Main Street Grill and get a meal. Peebles is a tiny little town but you will feel welcome. You can go a few miles out of town to the Wheat Ridge Amish communities and shop for a little bit of anything or go four miles north of town and go to the other more farming oriented old Amish community there around Sinking Spring ,or just go to the Great Serpent Mound State Park where I grew up. My Indians named after the ancient Serpent Mound builders, will be there to do battle Friday evening before 7:00 . Come watch our county wide parade out of town @4:00. Safe travels all.Vito Corleone wrote: Thu Mar 15, 2018 9:14 amSEOPS and driving? Welcome to SEOPs. My cousins grandkids play at Pandora who are also in the D4 "Elite 8". In 1974 my Peebles Indians lost their regional final game against Coach Charlie Huggins and the Indian Valley South team by the score of 41-42 after being ahead 19-3 in the first quarter. That memory haunts us to this day. Our Indians are looking forward to our battle at the Convo Friday. Safe travels.IVCguy wrote: Thu Mar 15, 2018 10:23 am I joined for one big reason - to thank LucasD for his updates on the regional games. Re: Peebles vs Hiland
Charlie coached a couple of years at Hiland in the 1980s. He brought with him a young black man, Perry Reese, Jr. whom the BofE hired when Charlie left - and the rest is history. Perry won big on the floor, including a 92 state championship, but he won bigger in a wider sense by having a huge impact on this entire community before dying of brain cancer in 2000. The Perry Reese Community Center where the Hawks play is his monument.
I remember those IVS teams. Any team Charlie coached was going to be formidable.

Sports Illustrated did an article on Perry Reese and The Amish Community —- at least I’m pretty sure it was SI. I remember reading it and then making sure everyone I knew read it as well.
I look forward to seeing This game Friday Night.
IVCguy: Your post made my day. Getting ready to drive home from Cincy — Hoping to see most of the Ohio State game. But you bet your tail there will be updates tonight for the D2 games. And also from The Convo on Friday.

Boston Robinson our small forwards mother Amber Ison Robinson was the 6'1" jr starting center averaging triple double on Peebles 1998 final 4 team who lost in the state final game to Euclid Regina. His dad was starting guard on the 1998 District qualifing team. The Browning boys grandfather is Chuck Johnson who many remember as 1973 Peebles 1st team all state shooting guard who was scouted by Bobby Knight and the Hoosiers. Peebles will be ready to play some round ball as a team and battle Friday night. Go Indians.Hoopie74 wrote: Thu Mar 15, 2018 11:09 amLucasDavenport don't stop at the McDonalds, come on up to the White star or Main Street Grill and get a meal. Re: Peebles vs Hiland
That's what it is all about. Sounds like the crowds that Peebles and Eastern used to have back in the day.
Re: Peebles vs Hiland
Yes that yearly game brought everyone out of the hollows. Loved those days. I remember one game 5 radio stations we're there. Standing room only.DKing wrote: Thu Mar 15, 2018 5:16 pm That's what it is all about. Sounds like the crowds that Peebles and Eastern used to have back in the day.

I would be very happy for Coach Arey and Hoopie74 if the Indians can get that regional title. Remember, Peebles, favorites lose sometimes, underdogs win sometimes. This is one game and not a best of seven.
