WAVERLY ANSWERS:
Expecting kids to come from the football field Saturday night to the basketball court Monday to get ready for a basketball game in less than two weeks is ludicrous. They should have at least one solid week to rest (heal up) and then two weeks to practice before a game.
Waverly will not be ready to play Saturday - just ain’t gonna happen.
Missing yesterday:
Will Futhey - recruiting trip to The Ohio State University
Tanner Smallwood - twisted/sprained ankle Friday night
Grayson Diener - football injury
Haydn Shanks - torn ACL
Zeke Brown was playing on a sprained ankle from football
Mark Stulley went down with a sprained ankle in the second half.
And then there are 3 not playing from last years team.
Waverly has potential to be good but it will take them a while to get there....
Makes sense. I figured it was something like that. Takes these kids a while after football. That’s if they’re healthy. So hard to tell a lot this early in the season. Was just surprised by the point difference. I know Adena’s almost entire starting five play football and they made it to week 11. Fortunately it’s a foundation game and means absolutely nothing, especially if half the team is missing.
Nope, Adena doesn’t even have football. Only Waverly plays football.
Adena football players had an extra week didn’t they? Were any Adena kids out or all starters playing? That extra week does make a difference and half of Waverly’s team wasn’t even available.
I’m not saying Waverly wins this foundation game with all their players available. I’m saying they can be good but it’s going to take a while.
No knock at all on Adena and wasn’t even talking about them - they will probably win the SVC.....
