Tri-Valley is a very good team and they play a tough schedule. Don't overlook their trouncing of Big Walnut a 5-2 from the OCC.

Tri Valley is very good and very well-coached. Who is denying that? If they win their next two games I'd say they have a chance to rise two or three spots further in D-III. Based on records, film and schedules, I'm not sure they can make a case for being No. 1 or 2 -- yet. But it would not shock me to see them in the district final or even district champions eventually.
Tri Valley just lost 71-70 at D1 central district power Hilliard Bradley. Their other loss is to a loaded St Francis Desales. They play Upper Arlington this weekend. Unless Maysville has one of their out of this universe shooting nights nobody in the MVL is beating this team and nobody in SEO plays near that schedule. They’re athletic, big and can shoot it.
Interesting reading phrases like “central district power” and “loaded” to describe Tri Valley opponents. Yes, they play a more difficult schedule than most SE district teams. On that there can be agreement. Other teams above them have some quality wins too, and so far no losses.

I’ve seen all of these teams multiple times. Miami Trace (who I might rate No. 1) appears stronger than Tri Valley to me, as does Marietta and Steubenville for different reasons. This can change over the course of the season of course. Question: Has Tri Valley had some injuries or sicknesses that has affected their play in any of their nine games?
Steubenville and Marietta traditionally aren’t generally good tournament teams. I know it’s a New Year. Will be an interesting District. Almost old school. Districts probably in Marietta or Athens.

Since I started this thread I'll weigh in one more time.

First, let's acknowledge that any of the teams we're discussing can beat the other on a given night. Second, Steubenville has not been good for a few years, and Marietta has not had good seasons since 2009 and 2011 with double-digit losses for nine years in a row until the 2022-23 season. Tri Valley always has winning seasons and may have the best winning percentage of any high school program in region in the past 20 years. Tradition certainly on their side.

I'm fairly confident in two weeks Tri Valley will be in the top 2 or 3 in the Southeast/East ranking.
