Portsmouth Trojans (21-5) (10-2) 2010-2011
Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2010-2011
bball06,
How did the OHSAA do a poor job of handling the situation? They declared him ineligible from the beginning. His family appealing that ruling changes nothing. Everyone knows the OHSAA was not going to reverse that proper decision. You cannot change schools like that without moving. OHSAA is not at fault in this matter.

Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2010-2011
smurray: The debate about the decision is not about the actual outcome, but that a final decision should have been given by now.......the appeal was heard, the decision was tabled twice because the OHSAA supposedly investigated the matter further........but it's been 3 weeks since the second board meeting on this matter.
A final decision should have been rendered by now........the OHSAA still has not DENIED his appeal.......they just haven't made a decision on it.

Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2010-2011
I agree with the ruling but 4 months to hear/ rule on an appeal...give me a break...that is how they handled it poorly...the kid his family and this team deserved better than that...again sad situation from many angles....heck he should have never been allowed to play at Burg last year?....who r u smurray anyway? Dan Ross
Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2010-2011
Sorry, but no I'm not Dan Ross, lol. I think the OHSAA leaves allot to be desired but they cannot be blamed for anything in this matter. They ruled him ineligible which is the way it remains unless and until they reverse that decision. Since they haven't done so he is still ineligible. Do you really think they would change that decision? EVERYONE knows they shouldn't. bball06 is correct, he shouldn't have been able to play at Burg without sitting a year.
Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2010-2011
I figured u weren't Dan Ross just having a little fun...I didn't really expect him to b elgible and he shouldn't be

Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2010-2011
The Trojans will play at Notre Dame on Monday, Nov. 22nd........this will be a foundation game.......I believe the starting time is 6 PM for the JV game.......7:30 for the varsity.
Portsmouth will then host a scrimmage vs. Peebles, Wellston, and Minford on Saturday, Nov.27th.......not sure of the starting time.
The Trojans' final scrimmage will be at Chesapeake on Thursday, Dec.2......probable starting time around 6 PM.

Andrew Bendolph is back in Portsmouth. I seen him at school today and i heard him say he had to come back !
Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2010-2011
Here's a great idea. Let the kid get an EDUCATION first. And be with the kids he grew up with. He can always walk on to a college bball team and earn a scholarship....life isnt about sports. It may take you to college but the chances of playing in the NBA or in Europe arent that great. I for one am glad to see he is back with his friends. Now, get on with life....go to school and get a diploma. It will benefit you more than a win in basketball. Good luck to the kid.

Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2010-2011
Looks like I might have to rescind my earlier post about Andrew NOT playing at Portsmouth this year.......I thought it was a done deal when he went to Wisconsin.......obviously, with as many twists and turns as this case has had, I should have known better.
I would love to see him play for the Trojans........he is a terrific player, fun to watch, and would make us VERY GOOD.......I just don't know if it will happen........right now, I just want Portsmouth ready for that first game vs. South Webster.......the Jeeps will come at us 100 miles an hour and we better be ready to play and PLAY HARD.........they beat us last year on our home court.
GO TROJANS!!!

Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2010-2011
It seems to me that IF Andrew is eligible to play at Portsmouth, it will be more of a distraction to the team than if he had stayed in Wisconsin. All of this back and forth...he's playing....he's moving....he's back.... surely has taken away some of the team's focus. At this point, the team should be focused on their play, not who is/is not going to be playing. No doubt he is a good player and has friends at Portsmouth and on the team and if you think for one minute high school kids aren't talking about this every day at school, you have to be kidding yourself. Did he actually transfer to the school in Wisconsin? If so, won't that add another problem to the whole appeal process and possibly warrant a whole new appeal? This whole thing seems to have turned into a circus and can't be helping the team at all...
Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2010-2011
4th and Goal,
He probably didn't move..... he was just on a visit to the area to see some sites...

Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2010-2011
Just like he visited Wheelersburg last year. We all know he never really moved there. I think the OHSAA should investigate....and let us know sometime next year what they decide
Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2010-2011
