So, 'Burg fans weren't sitting in the lower sections when the Chesapeake game was being played while many Chesapeake fans were in the upper sections? Wrong. Chesapeake fans that stayed to watch the next game stayed in the seats in their section. So your fans have the right to watch our game from your section, but we don't have the right to watch your game from our section?

I happened to move to the upper level after the 'Peake game because I can't stand Portsmouth fans. Classless is barnstorming the stands and blocking aisleways and sightlines as many of the Portsmouth fans did during the last couple of minutes in our game. Clueless are the Portsmouth fans that tapped me on the shoulder and asked me where I was from...as I was dressed in Purple from head to toe...in the middle of the Chesapeake section. I guess they'll find out Saturday where we're from.

Congrats to Ptown on the win.

Great game. Just like I thought it would be. Ptown was up by 10 at the half, but the Burg came out and made a game of it. Big play of the game was when Evans hit the three about 5 feet behind the line when the Burg was up 39-36. That seemed to take the wind out of the Burg and they never got back into rhythm.

Outcoached, r u serious trojanbuff. This Trojan team reminds me of the one in 84 that was beaten by the Burg in the Districts because they had no discipline and didn't listen to there coach, same as this year team. The only reason Burg got back into the game was because Ptown kept jacking up three after three and couldn't throw it in the ocean. McKinley had 13 points at the half and only scored 3 in the 2nd half. That was some smart coaching. Him and Underwood should have had a field day under the basket, but they never even saw the ball in the 2nd half.

Another thing, how does a team as physical as Ptown only have 3 team fouls called on them up until 1:30 left in the game? Burg tried to take it to the hole to draw the foul but couldn't get the call. They only ended up with 5 total. I wonder what the free throw difference was. I think it was way in favor of Ptown.


By the way, TB, you need to go back and look at who was talking smack all week. It wasn't Burg fans. Any true Burg fan knew that going in that this was going to be a classic Burg-Ptown game. This to date was the biggest game they have ever played against each other, in a game to reach the elite 8.


I believe that Saturdays game could be a dandy between Ptown and Peake because they match up very well. Ptown has the size and they have good guards, just like peake does.

Burg fans were sitting in the section that was marked WHEELERSBURG behind it, which when I got there, was 90% Peake fans. I think the way they should have it marked is for the first game, the fans of the two teams get the lower section and then after there game is over, they get up and give the lower section to the next two teams fans. They can't do that because you always have fans that just won't give up there seats, which always amazes me. You have no dog in the fight, your game is over, so why would you want to stay and sit in amongst another teams fans?

Oh well, you'll have one whole section to yourself on Saturday unless the do it like they did for the Burg-Tusky Valley game in "07. They didn't have the fans sitting across from each other, they wrapped the fans around one side to the other, so sections of fans were sitting nect to each other. The rumor was that they didn't want the Burg fans behind there bench during the game.

Yea i think the pirates are underdogs in this one and that is fine with me... they have bendolph this year and we dont... thats fine. but we have better team chemistry and better big game experience... we'll ride that 'dog all the way to columbus like in years past. go pirates

We saw tonight who had better team chemistry and the best coach. Trojans looked sharp!

Yes, the Pirates were the underdogs if betting was allowed but they did not get out coached. IMO the better "basketball players" won this game plain and simple. Athleticism will trump a well coached team if you don't have the horses for top speed in a 32 minute game.

I don't think the game plan was the problem in the 1st half. They shot 2/13 the first quarter and 3/22 the whole first half, making only one of their last 19 shots for the half.
Make no mistake about it, Portsmouth played Barricks game but his boys just couldn't stick it in the hole the whole 1st half.

Nope, just like to see a fair game called. Burg's gameplan was to take it at the ptown defenders and they did rather well, but if your missing shots because of a smack on the arm or a bump as your shooting and you don't get the call, makes for a rough shooting night.

Burg#1 - Did you not see all of the burg fans sitting down in the lower section of the chesapeake game, and I'm not talking about at the end of the game, they were there before the Peake game even started, and what's wrong with the Peake fans staying to watch another good basketball game. Please don't try to say that the Burg fans have never done that, cause we all know they have. As long as your sittin in your section and its general admission seating, you are always going to have that, so don't say that the peake fans are classless when every team has done it.

this post is from an innocent bystander that has no dog in the fight. i was sadly let down tonight by the play of portsmouth. i have heard nothing but good things about portsmouth this year, and i quote, ppl saying THIS IS THE YEAR WE WIN STATE. not taking anything from burg or a couple games ago, northwest. these two teams were really close to pulling out a win. i personally went to watch both these games, and must say if portsmouth has any chance of winning state, they must play a better caliber of basketball than i have seen at those two games. i actually talked to a man from portsmouth tonight that said we need to get by this game and we are in the state bracket. if they play anything close to how they played these two teams, there will be no chance of them getting out of the convo with a win. the one thing i can say about portsmouths play tonight, it was they did a very nice job on the stegman kid. i think chesapeake will advance till they reach taft, and then they are done. good luck to all, and hopefully noone takes this as a slam, just simply stating my opinion.

I agree, but I didn't start this argument. Don't blame the refs, cause you lost, it was a great game both teams played well, and the refs let them play. Don't cry about not getting calls, because it was the same both ways.

Did you not see the sign that was marked WHEELERSBURG behind that section and like I said, it was 90% full of peake fans. Like i said above, jhey need to just let the first games fans have the lower section and then switch for the 2nd game. If you have a fan that won't give up his seat, then he needs to be removed. The worst i ever saw of this was in 95. Minford played Unioto in the first regional semi. After Minford beat them, Unioto's fans would not give up there seats to Burg fans, even though they were sitting in the section that was marked Wheelersburg. A Athens police officer came in told the Unioto people they needed to get up, none of them listened and he threw up his hands and said he couldn't get them to leave, After he left there was almost a full scale riot that broke out because some of the Unioto fans took offense to the Burg cheering for the Burg and there was some very heated exchanges that took place. That has been tnhe worst that I have ever seen.

Unofficially Wheelersburg was 10/14 and Portsmouth was 8/17 at the charity stripe.

Burg never even got close to the bonus in the 2nd half, so no it wasn't called the same way. Ptown had 3, THREE team fouls with 1:30 left in the game. The Pee Wee Herman looking ref made most of the calls, while the other two just ran up and down the floor and picked up a paycheck. I seriously don't remember the pudgy white guy making a call in the 2nd half, not one.

I'm not saying the refs cost the Burg the game, just curious as to how any one team, in a game as physical as Ptown is can only have 5 teams fouls called on them the entire 2nd half?

Burg had there chances late, just couldn't put them away.
