Another thing, how does a team as physical as Ptown only have 3 team fouls called on them up until 1:30 left in the game? Burg tried to take it to the hole to draw the foul but couldn't get the call. They only ended up with 5 total. I wonder what the free throw difference was. I think it was way in favor of Ptown.

Unofficially Wheelersburg was 10/14 and Portsmouth was 8/17 at the charity stripe.

Wow, I retract my statement then. Burg must have shot most of theres in the first half.

Wow...enough is enough! These are high school kids playing a game! Hats off to the Pirates for a great season! They have a very good coach in Coach Barrick! Nice win Trojans and Coach Collins! Win and advance! Move on, stop verbally attacking each other... It gets you no where just like arguing with the refs. Great rivalry between these schools, but many take it way too serious! It's high school basketball, great game to both teams!!! Go Trojans! Bring a Regional Championship back to Scioto County!!! TOGETHER...WE Are 1!

Wow, is everybody in Portsmouth one. I've never seen so many people openly admit that they were one.

I guess they are one, one step closer to going to state.

One question I have is where were all the Trojan fans, other than the students? They couldn't fill up there side of the lower section as I saw Peake and Burg fans sitting in the last section on there side closest to the Burg student section

the low scoring had to do with the tempo more than D. Barrick wanted it 45-39 burg of course but I am sure the scoring and tempo was about where he wanted it. I don't know what the stats were but it didn't seem either team shot very good.

Portsmouth does play good D, but they do not play the high pressure D like the Burg has taken care of the past 2 games. Ironton and Peebles were extremely tough up and down the court and Burg handled that just fine. Burg will not give up 20+ turnovers like Fairland gave the Trojans last night. This should be another great game at the Convo!!

GO PIRATES!!
Portsmouth held Burg to 39 points....they don't play high pressure D?

What was up with the game program? Are you kidding me, photocopies??????

It used to be a nice program they put out, but now they resort to that? The program for the District games weren't like that.

I won't get into the chemistry thing but neither team looked sharp. Barrick's team dictated the tempo and gave the pirates the best chance of winning. Hats off to the trojans they played the burgs game and still won. You can determine the best team by the outcome of the game but I am not sure the outcome of tonights games is the best way to determine the best coach.

We saw tonight who had better team chemistry and the best coach. Trojans looked sharp!

Congrats to the Trojans on the win! Great student section for both schools. I think PHS's adult section wanted the win more than the burg adult section. Burgs adults just sit there and don't support their team.

Great season for the BURG! SOC Champs, Sectional Champs, District Champs!! Game plan for the Pirates almost worked!! A few foul shots made, a couple turnovers not made, and maybe a few fouls called and the game would have been different. But not taking anything away from the Trojans! They won and they play again! To the Pirate seniors-Ballard, Schank, Sloan, Stegman and Ward, thanks for the great run! The luck ran out but who would ever think that you would have upset Peebles, upset Ironton, and almost got P-town. Making it to the regionals is pretty awesome. Thanks to Coach Barrick for his great game plans along the way. One of his best coaching jobs this year if not his best. Taking a mediocre talented team and winning the SOC, sectionals, and districts and playing with a very good p-town team who beat you by 18 earlier in the season- not to bad!

Who all went to Portsmouth in grade school.....

Transfers happen. Peake is who they are not completely on talent transferred in but on playing together and being a team. Same thing as Portsmouth. Same as Burg. You play with the cards you have dealt.
Congrats to the Burg on a great season. Stegman had a HUGE career at Burg and definitely left his mark. I believe had PHS hit shots in in 2nd half and extended 10 point lead the game could've gone different but credit the Pirates for hitting big shots and cutting into the lead during the Trojans cold spell. Good Luck Trojans against Chesapeake! Should be a great game between two great TEAMS

As a Trojan grad congratulations to both teams. And please people stop all of the bickering. Burg had a great year and played a great game. Go Trojans, we will need to play one of our best games of the year Saturday night to move on.

Congrats to Portsmouth on a fine, hard fought win last night at the Convo.

Thanks to Andy Sloan, Andy Stegman, Brandon, Schankwiler, Shane Ward and Webb Ballard for you years of service to the Burg basketball program.

Last night was a classic battle between two rivals.

Congrats Burg on a great season and awesome tourny run. No one expected you to make it to the sweet 16 and be with in 2 minutes of advancing to the Elite 8. Congrats to Portsmouth on there win. With some of the posters on here from Portsmouth and some of your fans ( not all ) at the games and there attitudes makes it hard to root for them against peak. Congrats to all the Burg Seniors on a fine season and Stegman for a great career at Burg.. They will be missed.. The team will definatly have its work cut out for them next season and a differnt look for sure. As for the game it was a tale of two halves. First half P- town looked dominant with a 10 pt lead at half. Burg comes out in the 2nd half and takes the lead late in the 4th and I really thought were going to go on and win that game.. Exciting game and both teams laid it all on the court for 4 qtrs.. Burg struggled all nite on offense just couldnt get going or get into any flow. Defense I thought was good all nite on Portsmouth. I thought McBee done a good job on Bendolph in the first half , Shank held Evans in check and Ward always plays great D. The defensive effort was there to win , just couldnt get someone to step up on the offense.. Congrats Portsmouth on your win.

Are you kidding?? Wheelersburg shot 28% for the game while Portsmouth shot 41%. Had Wheelersburg shot even a poor 35% they would have won the game. The 'Burg's 3 for 22 in the 1st half is where the 10 point lead came from..... and the game.

ah, just the arrogance I spoke of earler.......

Burg most definately had more discipline and CLASS......

The Pirates had one had a superb season, competed well, worked hard, and maintained school pride and loyalty through everything...hats off to such a great season...

portsmouth has to bring their A game, luck, and maybe a miracle to pull off a win saturday, because with the display last night, they don't stand a chance...

Great job to both teams, great season seniors, you will be greatly missed....
PROUD TO BE A PIRATE!!!
