I just dont think Eldridge was gettin the job done

You really can't compare Jeff Miller to Chris Eldridge. Two entirely different coaching styles. That's like comparing apples to bananas(Eldridge being bananas of course). Jeff Miller is a mastermind X's & O's guy, while Eldridge was more of a motivational coach.

I do think, however, that the intimidative style of the new AD, Barry AuthorS, eventually led to Eldrige stepping down. AuthorS won't put up with anything short of perfection. If you mess up, he'll squash you like bug.

Good luck to Vikes Thursday night. They'll need to play an outstanding game to win this. And if they don't, I'm sure AuthorS might expel them.

VC has also been plagued with this the last few games. The GM game we missed wide open layups on top of several bunnies. If VC hits thier layups and shoots 65% from the line they wouldnt have had a game within 15 points the entire tourny. I look for Combs and Co. to have these boys ready tp play come Thurs. These teams are very evenly matched, I think this game comes down to Free thow shooting and hitting the give me's or "bunnies". Whoever plays more fundemental basketball moves on. Good luck to both teams.

I look for Chillicothe to bounce back in a big way after the last game. I see the Cavs winning this one by 15. Good luck Cavs !

Lets just put it this way if Chillicothe brings their A game and Vinton County brings their A game chillicothe wins by 15+

The only way VC has a chance is if chillicothe plays worse than a B game, and they (VC) play their A game.

If there is one thing i have noticed about chillicothe this year, and is what makes them very dangerous, is that they can play ANY style of basketball, whether it is up tempo, slowed down half court set offenses, medium paced game. It doesn't matter they can play any style and win. That is where i feel chillicothe has the advantage over VC, if VC gets in an up and down the floor fast paced type game they won't last. Ex. see 2nd half of last year's game against chillicothe.

With that said i think Chillicothe wins this game by 5-10 points. Last year the thing that really hurt VC against Chillicothe was the ball pressure. When Chilli decided to open up the flood gates and begin trapping, and pressing VC's guards folded last year and chilli ended up winning by 15. If chillicothe stays out of foul trouble they win hands down, period.

Chilly is 20 points better than VC but they were also close to 20 points better than Logan Elm in my humble opinion, but look how that one turned out. so what have we learned? that no matter how much more talent you have, how much you SHOULD win by, what your ranking is, if you dont come out and play with intensity and take every game seriously you can end up losing. I think Chilly is embarassed of their performance on friday night against LE and comes out ticked off with something to prove.

Dshanton3, I agree that Chilli is 20 better than VC and will show it Thursday. But not 20 Better than LE and LE proved it. LE plays really solid D and has really good guard play. The Evans kid is for real. VC doesn't have the guards LE does and won't handle the pressure. LE took good quality shots and doesn't turn the ball over. VC takes bad shots at times and with the pressure of the Cavs will turn it over a lot. This will be a bad match up for VC. Great run this year. Congrats on your District Championship. It's over.

As has been the case during the entire "second " half of the season, folks are discounting the Vikings chances . Actually, the Viking squad has nothing to lose here...they have already been written off as a loss against the Chilli team. Their ball handling against full court pressure has improved each game. However, the fact that they have made it this far, evidently. is a combination of "poor" games by their opponents and pure, random luck. So all of the Viking nation, nestled within the halls of Valhalla, want the Chillcothe Cavs to feel secure in the certainty of their upcoming win. The under-rated Vikes, meanwhile, will no doubt come to play knowing that this game is one that nobody expects them to prevail in. Perhaps, just maybe, this will allow the Vikings to give that extra effort that occasionally allows teams , such as Vinton County. to prove that along with talent and teamwork....there is an often forgotten ingredient called heart that can make all the difference in the world. In any case, the Viking fans are coming with the full expectation of an effort reflecting a stellar season and hoping for a win. GO VIKES !

The Vikes can compete in this game!
Must not get caught up in all the hype of Chilli coasting; I hope the Cavs think they can take a night off here.
The Vikes will come to play, and will have a large following.
Whatever the outcome I know both teams will have given their all, and left it on the floor. The team that doesn't win this game will in turn root for the winner to go all the way. I wish good luck to both teams.
Just hope for a great, well played, safe, and friendly game.

Once again the Vikes get no respect. These predictions are very bold considering this unstoppable juggernaught (Chilly) almost lost Fri. night to a team who everyone said the Cavs would also beat by 15-20. Good things the Chilly fans dont live in Vegas. I dont think anyone is arguing Chilly should be the favorite in this one, but 20 pts. Really? I guess we will see on Thurs night. This will be a close game either way it goes.

Who are the common opponents this year. I know Athens and Jackson. I think those are the only 2 commom teams VC and Chilly played this year. Not good teams to look at and compare, but I think the margin of vitory were pretty even.

yes , not very good common opponents to compare. chilli starters didnt play 1 second after halftime against jackson, nor even 2 1/2 qtrs vs. athens. at halftime vs. jackson, chill led 47-7, and that was with missing 17 free throws(yes 17 free throws)...free throws has been chilli's heel all season long. i find it very strange that a team with so many good shooters, can't hit free throws. lack of concentration? who knows. but its gonna bite them in the butt, if that doesnt improve.

I agree with the vinton fans that they dont get enough credit, but what T.V.C team does? the only problem vinton will have is the ball presure that chilli is going to put on grillo and the other gaurds! if the vinton county gaurds can keep there heads it should be a great game! good luck T.V.C

bluegrassvike...i'm simply using a point system to compare the teams, not claiming that Chilly will win by that much this time. I said 20 b/c i think if when chilly was playing to their potential (mid-season), if they played VC then, the margin would be 20. but lately Chilly is playing far below their potential and VC is hungry so i'm sure that would make the playing field much more even. If you read the rest of my post i go on to say that if we dont play with intensity and take the game seriously, we can lose.

Good luck to both teams.

Vinton can shut up the critics if they beat or at least play well against Chilli. If they get blown out, the critics will say they were right all along. If VC can handle the pressure, they'll compete.
