Agreed. Small schools have the deck stacked against them from regional on out. Ok ,but; a great run by the Mustangs.maybe next year.

SE District teams have won state in the recent past but each of them had 2 transfers that were 2 of their best players. LC didn't have any.

Can't really say that as some other top public schools were likely eliminated by the big private schools in an earlier round.

Lynchburg Clay had a phenomenal season and an incredible tournament run all the way to the final 4.

LC had a great season.

There is no way to determine whether or not LC is better than Beachwood or Grandview Heights (among others). So, declaring them "public school state champions" is messy,

I would posit that if Beachwood were to have gotten out that region, seeing as how they lost by 1 in district finals to VASJ, they'd likely beat LC (or... would beat them 6 times out of 10.) Beachwood is a public school, but their composition, community socio-Ec's, students' proximity to school etc are likely going to be dissimilar to the same measurements of Lynchburg-Clay. That is to say "you can get rid of the private schools, but losing in the tournament to enclave, suburban (very wealthy) schools isn't that much different."

Good point fc, it's not so much private/public as it is the haves versus the have nots! So many factors go into successful sports teams that schools can't control. The biggest seems to be proximity to large urban areas and ability to attract or dissuade enrollment.

Not sure if you are aware, but 3 of LC 5 starters are move ins. Blankenship from East Clinton, Mullins from ?, and Giodano from home school.

Great season by the Mustangs.......making the Final 4 is an accomplishment to be very proud of. Cherish the memories, because they don't happen that often. Enjoyed meeting Rodeo1 and talking some basketball with him.
