Re: Final: @ Warren 61 Portsmouth 56
Much as I hated to see this one slip away, I have to give the Warriors credit for the comeback........James Hastie was absolutely HUGE in the 4th quarter.........those two 3's late were killers.........and he was money from the FT line.
I was very proud of the Trojans' effort on the defensive end despite Hastie's late 3's.......as jgordon0315 stated, once again our FT shooting hurt us........6-11 doesn't get it done in a close game.
So far in 5 games, I am very pleased with the minutes that Mason Jordan and Duke Edwards have given us off the bench........may very well mean more PT for them. The duo has given us much needed points, rebounds, and defense.
I knew going into this week of games.........at Ironton, at Warren, and at Chillicothe, that this was the toughest part of the Trojans' schedule.........if we can get a W at Hatton Gymnasium Tuesday, a 4-2 record looks pretty good with 10 of the next 12 games at PHS.
If the Trojans want to win the SEOAL, they really must take care of business at CHS Tuesday........2 losses this early into the league season will put us in a tough situation.
Good to talk to ex-coach78 and 32, 16, 6.........always enjoy going to Warren but enjoy it more when we win.........the Warriors and Trojans have developed quite a rivalry..........always an intense atmosphere, and last night was no exception.
GO TROJANS!!!

You dont always get the defensive side of the game, but in my opinion the Warrior lead came with the definsive switch of Hastie and Knost. Knost slowed Evans down quite a bit in the second quarter. His height and quickness served him well. In the fourth Henthorn came in to give Evans even more trouble. That seems to be what changed the game. The three quarter press didnt hurt us either. I guess the old saying " The best offense is a good defense " still holds true.

Bounce wrote:No doubt Warren won the game they continued to play and got the win not taking anything from them with the complaint of the bad call at the end. You can say what you want that the grabbed jersey was intentional but when the team is fouling at the end of the game and the kid fouling loses his footing and almost does the splits and grabs jersey while falling is not intentional. No way does good varsity refs make that call and a ref does not laugh and smile at the coach after that type of call. I know everybody seen when the other ref had to come over an seperate the ref who made the call to direct him away from the Portsmouth coach. I say it again good Varsity refs know they make the call and rotate position to keep from conflict and dont keep staring at the coach smiling and laughing.
i Agree that the refs should have rotated but a pulled jersey ESPECIALLY at the end of a game regardless of circumstance is and should be an intentional foul. with what happened in cincy last week, it is important to always keep the game under control. I never take what coach says personal, you cant as a ref but there are some who go into a game looking for confrontation. I have never understood this logic and make sure that I never work with that person again because it makes the whole crew look bad.

first off conrats to warren on the win, they lay hard, they didnot give up when they wre down by double digits, and they deserved the win.
biggest problem I have with the refs,,,,,,,,,,after coach collins, and coach Arnzen pleaded their case about the "intentinal foul" and got into a very heated discussion with the refs,,, the one ref goes to center court looking over laughing at the situation,, NO CLASS!..OUR KIDS just played a very very physical ball game,, and lost in the last seconds of the game, and have to see some IDIOT, standing out there laughing is total bull.

League assigned officials. Complain to person who assigned them to the game.

It doesn't matter whether it was the right call or not. Which I thought it was not because of the accidental nature of the "jersey grab." The ref was not going to make the intentional call until hastie put his arms up in the x. One of the warren students who I discussed this with agreed with me on that. It was poor refereeing all over but the critical calls went warren's way.
Re: Final: @ Warren 61 Portsmouth 56
the refs took this game right away from the Trojans, this is nothing new when playing at Warren, only thing worse then the refs at Warren is smelling them restrooms when you first walk in the doors, why hasnt the health dept. stepped in and done something about this?

Stop complaining about the officials. They didn't miss a bunch of free throws or turn it over. Portsmouth did and Warren took advantage.
You will see those same guys doing district and regional games this year.

Trojandave a gentlemen you are (but we DO get a little excited in the heat of the battle)....both of these teams are full of talent and I have enjoyed watching them go toe to toe twice a year going on 4 years now....these two have a way of making each game the kind of high school varsity basketball you just love to watch! Sincerely the very best of luck to the Trojans the rest of the way! (except of course for Friday night, January 27)
