VC 65
Jackson 41
As far as the concessions, everything was very fairly priced. The Jackson folks are very gracious hosts.

Great game by the Vikes!
A program is built and reload they'll do. Seemed like they were very strong 9 deep not even being able to tell who were the better players...they could all do most basketball things well.
It was 25-21 in the 2nd quarter and then......ka pluee....it got out of hand quickly.
Jackson has trouble shooting the ball and they aren't as quick as many other guards on opposing teams.
Dylan Newsome continues to play very inspired basketball regardless of the current tough times. I love watching him compete.
VC won the JV game by 4 points and the frosh game was won by Jackson I was told.
That was as full as I have seen Jackson's gym other than a sectional or district final.
Great crowd on both sides.....and the Vikes really travel well. Many Wellston and Oak Hill fans in attendance as well.
Best of luck to the Vikings the rest of the way!

Never,
Coach Jordan knew what he was in for. Program building is a process and he knew this was a long year. No loses are good loses, but some are better then others. I can assure you his kids are playing hard. They did against Chilly. Last year, some of the kids looked like they did not want to play.

another good first half by the ironmen. Just need to come out at half time and try to play to win and not to get beat by a certain number of pts. They are still improving with every game Coach Jordan will have this turned around in a year nice group coming up. (team ball on JV)
Good viking team should make a run in the tournament

What grade is Dylan Newsome in?
It seems to me, if the legend has this young man for a while... he could be a stud.

Re: Vinton County @ Jackson 1/2/09
Dylan Newsome is a junior. He played varsity all of last year and just kept getting more and more attention from the spectators. He is a tremendous rebounder for someone not touching 6'0 and he KNOWS what his strengths are and uses them very well nearly every game.
This year he is playing even better. It cannot possibly be easy to play on a team that has lost 24 of the last 26 games.....many by large margins. That kid plays like the score is tied all game long. Major kudos to his effort each and every game!

Ironman92, Having watched that young man (Dylan Newsom) play ball, he would easily fit into Athens, Alexander, Vinton County,etc...... , the list goes on and on of the schools that this kid would be GLADLY taken in. Even if a person who didnt know basketball watched this boy play, they would realize how much heart this kid has. Iwish him the best of luck.
