if you didnt expect it, you was one of few, even most of us Trojan fans was expecting a tough outing, it is very hard to come out of Marietta with a win when you are playing good ball, let alone when you are strugling

BurgGrad77: My post was directed at you and anyone else that it pertains to.........

You can post anything you want about Portsmouth.......just be prepared to have someone contest what you say.........but never back down from your opinion.......regardless of what I think of it, you have a right to express it...........

I simply disagree with some of your comments regarding our basketball team.......and just because I disagree with you, doesn't mean that you're wrong........I happen to have a different viewpoint............

Congratulations to the Marietta Tigers on the win........MHS was one of the better ballhandling teams that Portsmouth has faced this season.......they were tough to defend the way that they worked the ball around.........

I was VERY PROUD of our Trojans last night.........we led throughout the game........but we just couldn't finish the job. I thought it was Portsmouth's best game since they were 5-0........and Marietta was one of the best teams PHS has faced........it seemed like a tournament atmosphere the last 2 minutes.......Sutton Gym was really loud........the MHS students were really into it...........

Forrest Johnson played outstanding last night........by far his best game of the year........and I think he should be starting the rest of the year........we are a better basketball team with him on the court, no doubt..........he started in place of Andrew Bendolph..........the rest of the starting lineup was the same, but Adam Bray and Nick Nelson got some good minutes off the bench.

We ran a patient offense, we played good defense against a team hard to defend.......their ballhandling was very good.........dribbling and passing..........

And from my vantage point it seemed like the Trojans had better rebounding position in this game......inside position..........the only thing missing for Portsmouth was the finish......we had chances to extend the lead to 6 points late, but couldn't do so.......we had the opportunity to hold for the last shot......57 seconds left, game tied at 53 and our possession........but couldn't..........but still our kids SHOWED ME A LOT OF GOOD THINGS LAST NIGHT!!!

Portsmouth led at every quarter break.........17-16, 27-26, 50-47.........but unfortunately Marietta had the upper hand in the 4th.......only 5 points for the Trojans in the final frame........but MHS had only 10........it was good enough for the win, though.

I hope the Trojans can take this performance into next week.......they played good, solid, all around basketball..........if they can, they can win all 3 games next week.

GO TROJANS!!!

Playing at that level last night and seeing how Forrest played, the Trojans gave me encouragement as we head toward the tournament.........that caliber of play will give any D3 team fits in the postseason.........

Here's an interesting stat........Portsmouth is 4-0 in non-conference play, with wins over Greenfield McClain, Wheelersburg, and Minford.......all have winning records now........and 2-5 in SEOAL contests.......speaks well of our league........it is very competitive, and that's why I like the league so much........either you show up every night and play well or you will find yourself going home with a loss..........

Another stat: Portsmouth has lost 5 games this year, but only 1 by more than 8 points.........in 4 of those 5 losses PHS had a chance late in the 4th quarter to pull the game out.........

Yet another stat: Portsmouth has now lost on 4 consecutive Friday's........we have a chance to end that next week with a homecoming game vs. Warren...........

Ironman92: Won't go into specifics, but Andrew was benched due to disciplinary reasons.........

No one has been dismissed from the varsity team........but one player was dismissed from the JV..........there have been a number of suspensions on the varsity team throughout the season, but no dismissals...........

rockfish: Thanks for your honest opinion........not sure what antics and rants you are talking about, because my objective is to defend our program, kids, and coaches when it is necessary...........

Tobias: Thanks for your support........

Also want to note that Corey Allison came off the bench and scored I think 5 points, including a 3 pointer.........he gave us some much needed help..........good to see Corey make a significant contribution..........

Nothing wrong with defending the team in a intelligent manner.

Dave, I know this post is directed towards me and that's fine. But I have been around and played enough basketball to get a good feel of a teams tendencies by watching them a couple of times. I have seen the Burg game live, on ZoneSports and I also watched the Portsmouth/Chilli game on Zones Sports and I believe my assessment is correct, but then again that's just my opinion. As for the practice thing, I just know that a lot of coaches, Barrick included, don't want a bunch of spectators, especally parents, watching their practices. I guess if Shoemaker is fine with it then so be it. It's his team.

I will refrain from posting anything else on a Portsmouth thread since obviously I'm an "outsider" who doesn't know what the hell he 's talking about.

Good luck the rest of the season.

My comments were not meant towards you. You seemed to have everything pegged pretty well.

he also said Zack Link had a nice game after struggling a couple of games.
Bendolh and Cadogan did not play.

Dave said this was probably our best performance of the year.

We might just be "at the corner"......we haven't turned it yet....but, we are "at the corner"...

SO, PORTSMOUTH LOST ? again?

You apparently don't know much about me...

Yeah I know. You were a hero.... and still are in your OWN mind.
You will, however, outgrow that as you get older so there is still hope for you.

they said if there was any, the coach would deal with it, looks like coach dealt with it.

now if they can get a quality win, instead of only beating the weak teams on there schedule, they can move forward.
