if north adams gets the number 1 seed you can bet the other coaches will do their best to make sure they get a tough match up against the eight and nine seeds.

peeblesbuck wrote:As somebody previously mentioned about Peebles being a key, I really don't think they will lose before next Sunday's draw. They have three games this week all at home. Tuesday they play Fairfield which could be a pretty decent game. Then on Friday Peebles has Homecoming against Lynchburg-Clay and then on Saturday it is Paint Valley coming to Peebles. With a good 3-0 week, Peebles would be 12-3 at the drawing next Sunday which should be good enough for the #3 seed, although if Valley would win out I could see them at #3 and Peebles at # 4. Who does Valley have this week?

Valley has Greenup Co. and @ Oak Hill this week!

Valley also has a makeup game with West on Wednesday.

Politics will win out here folks.

If North Adams is the #1, you can bet your sweet behind Portsmouth plays in the 8-9 game. No way on Earth that the SVC coaches award Piketon the #2 and then put Portsmouth in the 7-10 game. The only other thing that could happen is that they give Valley the #3 seed. Then they make Minford the #6 and Portsmouth #11. That way no SVC team plays Portsmouth or Minford. They also put L-Clay or West at #14 and that whole Sectional is without an SVC team.

My junior year we went to the drawing 13-2 and ended up a #4 or #5. No SVC team wanted to play the #1 at Rio (20-0 Chesapeake). Politics will win.

Crabs, I agree that the SVC coaches will try and look out for each other, but why cant the SHL and SOC guys get together and run them over? How hard would a few phone calls or emails be for those schools to say, hey lets band together and get what we want. I would understand if the SVC had a huge majority of coaches, but 6 out of 15 with only 1 school Portsmouth not having any conference affiliations at all to work with to me means that 1) those other schools wont work together, or 2) this conspiracy theory doesnt hold too much water! lol

SVC

Adena (10-4)
Huntington-Ross (8-6)
Piketon (12-2)
Southeastern Ross (4-10)
Westfall (11-5)
Zane Trace (9-4)

SHL

Eastern Brown (6-5)
Lynchburg-Clay (2-8)
North Adams (11-0)
Peebles (9-3)
West Union

SOC

Minford (10-4)
Portsmouth West
Valley (11-3)

SEOAL

Portsmouth (6-5)

To think that North Adams 1st tourney game will be vs ZT or Portsmouth makes this sectional insane.

Better to post late Saturday Night, too many games this week that can determine the fate of the middle of the pack teams.

Peebles moves to 10-3 with the win over Lynchburg-Clay on Friday night. They should go in to the drawing on Sunday with a record of 11-3 if they win against Paint Valley on Saturday night at Peebles.

Piketon is now 13-2 and Adena is 10-5 after Piketon's OT win over Adena on Friday night.

Adena is actually 11-5.
They beat Miami Trace on Tuesday.
Piketon is 14-2.

SVC

Piketon 14-2
Adena 11-5
Huntington 9-7
Westfall 12-5
Zane Trace 11-5

ZT is the only one that plays on Saturday night at McClain.
Zane Trace beat Adena twice, split with Piketon and lost in their only game against Westfall.

Thanks for the corrections. It's hard to keep up with the teams in this Sectional with all the snow-outs we've had lately. The SHL schools were hit really hard this past week with that Clipper while the SVC schools pretty much avoided it altogether and probably got their games in the middle of the week.

How many SVC coaching staffs will be in Adams County on Saturday night at Peebles for their game with Paint Valley and at North Adams for their game with Portsmouth West? Also, Valley plays Greenup County and Portsmouth also has a game on Saturday.

North Adams should get the 1 and if I am another school, I dont want any part of them. I hate to say it, but if Dave isnt happy coming out of tourney draw...We all know he will have his team ready come tourney time. Dont give him any motivation!

I can see Piketon at a # 2 seed, with the 7/10 being Minford and Eastern Brown....Although Portsmouth is struggling a little in some folks eyes, their league is so tough, that I cannot imagine they'd drop to a 10 spot. I see them as 8/9. Any way you look at it, this is going to be a tough sectional....The drama all unfolds Sunday.

Should be a lot of fun!

if north adams gets the 1 seed then eastern brown will get the 8th or 9th seed to set up a possible match up with north adams. shl teams always seem to get paired up with each other. of course peebles would probably like to be paired up with west union or lynchburg.

Here's how I got it figured going into Saturday nights games.
#1- North Adams
#2- Piketon
#3- Peebles
#4- Valley/Westfall
#5- Westfall/Valley
#6- ZaneTrace/Adena
#7- Adena/Zane Trace
#8- Minford/Portsmouth
#9- Portsmouth/Minford
#10- Huntington/Eastern Brown
#11- Eastern Brown/Huntington
#12- Southeastern
#13- West Union
#14- Lynchburg Clay
#15- Portsmouth West

Not sure who all plays who on Saturday other than Zane Trace traveling to McClain.

I think Portsmouth's fate is sealed as an #8 or #9 after a 76-55 loss to Zanesville........the Blue Devils have lost 7 games but have a 6-1 record in the SEOAL. The Trojans should win tonight vs. Northwest to have an 8-6 record heading into Sunday's draw.
