Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
you cant be serious? we all know the starting 5 would be channing markie tate, rashawn miller, tyler watkins and erik wadeker. he is buddies with all those dads. no one else would have a shot. thats a bigger mistake then plummer.
Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
I saw nothing that Parsons did last year that Pat and Rashawn cant do. Rashawn Miller should be starting varsity next year.
Like i said before the starting lineup should be
Markie Tate (obviously)
Erik Waderker- another obvious choice
Tyler Watkins- obvious again
Pat Slattery- plays hard every second hes in there, plays with greay intensity...i never saw pat quit one time...i saw numerous times where parsons turned it over (which he did a lot) and would just walk back on defense.
Rashawn Miller- another obvious choice, imo
plain and simple

Don't know how true it is but I just heard from a reliable source that Curt Plummer has resigned as Belpre basketball coach.

That would be a shame lol
but trust me, there is absolutely no way in hades the people on the board, the AD, and the super are gonna hire Dave Parsons...if it's gonna be someone from inside it would be Chad Williams...who, IFhe didnt have the mindset of a 15 year old would be a pretty decent choice.

I wish you are wrong about Dave Parsons but I have to agree with you that there is not much chance that they will give him the job. But I don't agree with you as far as Williams goes nor do I think Palmer would be any better. If not Parsons hopefully they will go outside and look for a quality coach that will utilize the talent that Belpre has coming back.

Ok another "forum fool" Four of those kids started last season for Plummer. You could make that statement "he's buddies with all those dads" about almost any kid in the Belpre Basketball Program. Why? Because he's put the time in with most of the kids that have come thru the Belpre program the last 5 or 6 years. Parsons no doubt knows the game and his integrity in unquestioned. He has proven also that he can develope talent, Phalzgraf was on the freshman team and under Parsons he transformed into an All-TVC performer. Azar made great strides as well. While spending time on Stout's staff, Parsons was instramental to that staffs sucess. Every kid on the Varsity basketball team has had Parsons at some point in their basketball careers.
The board could look long and hard and not find as good of fit for Belpre Basketball
Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
No chance in h!@* Dave Parsons will get the coaching job...board will never approve him. Anyone could transfer a 6'10 player into a All-TVC performer. Azar only had Parsons for one year on varsity...he had Plummer and family the other 2 years. His freshman he was strictly JV.
Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
First you don't want Stout then you want him back. There is nothing wrong with the coaches at Belpre except
they don't have the guts to cut the poison players on the team. Maybe Markies dad will take over the job.

Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
Once again, Mark Tate will never be approved by BOE, a father of one of the players will never be approved by BOE..i remember one of Stouts first years he wanted Lynch's dad to coach freshman or JV, i dont remember which one, but BOE didnt approve him because Eric would of been playing for him, and i dont think Gary is liked by too many BOE members, lol...i personally would love to see Stout come back, but i also dont think hes like by too many BOE members.
Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
Is the job even officially open?
As far as Tate, he thinks he runs the show anyway if you sit in the stands and listen to him.

Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
imo....plummer is done....belpre will look for someone from within first....but from within there is noone qualified to run Boys Varsity program.....persons of interest who apply will have a hard time getting approved from BOE, qualified or not.....so the search begins......Stout, Garrett, had expressed interest in returning, even Crislip from PSHS had interest a few years ago.....also his son has expressed interest and wants to return to the area from florida and has an impressive resume in high school basketball.....but yet again, not a teacher....he has also applied for the marietta girls job......question to be asked is..... does Belpre want someone who can do the job and improve the program or will they settle for someone in the system who will keep the program status quo and be protected by the system and BOE and Admin.....we will see how it goes......right, wrong, who knows sometimes the athletes themselves with athleticism make the coach look impressive well aleast for one season anyways....oops thats the other sport with an ablong ball.....Good luck with this one BELPRE...

Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
There has never been any official announcement that Plummer has resigned and the Board never addressed it at their May meeting last week. They do not list a job opening for basketball coach on their or Belpre schools website.A board member on this forum has not had any notification of his resignation. So far all we have is hearsay that he has resigned.A lot of people close to Belpre athletics has said that it is so but no one officially has verified it that I have heard.Anyone know of any official verification?

Bryan Crislip Assistant Coach
Bryan Crislip begins his first year as an assistant coach with the Lynn University men's basketball program. He is responsible for recruiting, on-floor coaching with emphasis on guard play and team offense, opponent scouting, academic monitoring, fundraising, film exchange and manager supervision. Crislip also serves as the Gym Coordinator for the de Hoernle Sports and Cultural Center.
Their website also lists him as an asst coach. Not sure how interested he is in any of the openings now.

Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
Just to clarify Bryan Crislip is Joe's nephew not his son. Talking about ex South players to coach, Josh Edman would be a great fit for Belpre. He has been an assistant coach for his dad Roy Edman @ Parkersburg South for a few years. I don't think that the Belpre BOE are going to recruit a coach. It will be open to those interested. Besides ALL coaching positions are up for renewal every year.

Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
The BOE needs to get their head on straight. Try searching outside the community. However, I will always be partial to Coach Garrett, I would love to see him come back. But the situation, as far as the overall talent would be a different story, along with the attitudes with some of the players. Bryan Crislip would be a steal, but I highly doubt he would leave Lynn Univ. He would be the best candidate. He played in college, played overseas, coached in college, has numerous college connections, knowledgeable, successful, and young (possibility of staying at Belpre for a while). I know him personally and he has a tremendous amount of integrity. By the way, he is a proven winner at the high school level. I think he led his Florida HS team to pretty good record in his only season as coach.
Josh Edman seems like he would also be a good candidate, but I don't know him as well as Bryan, so I don't know all of his coaching strengths. He's young and thats good (possibility of staying at Belpre for a while).
Whoever gets the coaching job, they need to lay the law down. No messing around in practice, get good grades, and play with some integrity on the basketball court. Practice should be taken seriously. If needed, the new coach, should even kick a kid or two off the team if that is warranted. Its just when you wear Belpre on the front of your jersey, your representing the school, family, community, and all the players that played before you when you were s*%tin' yellow. I just want to hear that the kids are practicing hard, playing hard, getting good grades, putting the extra practice time in, and playing with integrity (good attitude). I will always be a Belpre basketball supporter, but I'll also be a critic if the kids aren't playing hard and exhibiting bad attitudes.
