He's a really good player and enjoyed watching him play last year. I had heard he was going to Wheelersburg, I guess not.

I agree mike....from what I have seen, Leslie is playing the wait game and I don't see him coming to Burg. He wouldn't have the "thunder he has at NW. He would be sharing time and points with Stegman, Bendolph, Shank, and all the rest....I would say too he will be a mohawk come this winter.

dogg: The schedule this year is almost identical to last year...including a game with Federal hocking....nothing super special this year. With the expected talented team they have this year, I was hoping we would see maybe a Chillicothe match-up or Huntington High or even an Ironton Classic invitation(I would love to have seen Burg vs Oak Hill Academy!!) When I see the full schedule I will post it.

That schedule is a killer, especially the first 6 games. If the Burg makes a long run in the football playoffs(have to make it first) then those first 6 games will be a real challenge for the Burg. They open up with the Peake up there. Peake beat them last year and are supposed to be just as tough this year. Then they have 3 straight home games in Fed Hock, Northwest(big early season league game) and then Portsmouth(If portsmouth plays the bball game like they did the football game with there only concern being trying to start crap with Bendolph, than this game could be interesting. Guarantee you that Barrick won't let it happen on the Burg's side). Then they have to go to Waverly for their second big league game and then finish that 6 game stretch with Fairland, at Fairland. Burg has always had trouble beating the 8 players on the floor at Fairland, plus Fairland is who knocked them out of the tourney last year. Little bit of revenge factor there.

Looking forward to bball season starting. They should be fun to watch.

It is sometimes difficult to predict what you think a team will or will not have record wise during the regular season and what kind of tournament run they are expected to have for that particular year. On paper, Burg should have a pretty good team but we all know the game is played on the floor and not on paper.

Injuries are something that has to be taken into consideration over the course of the season as well. Losing a team member to an injury could disrupt the starting five or substitution rotation. Does the injured player provide scoring, rebounding help, strong defense or can they play several positions? All of these factors are affected when one player goes out of the usual lineup.

Another area that must be looked at before the season starts is what player(s) that was on the team last year is not going to go out for the team this current season? People hear rumors all the time but until the first official practice it is difficult to know with 100% accuracy.

I have no idea what kind of record Burg will have this year but I can tell you two things: 1. Barrick and Massie will have the team well prepared. 2. EVERYONE will play defense or they will be watching the game in the nice, cushioned chairs on the side of the court. :-D

Couldn't agree more Bama about the defense. This team will be fast and quick. Could possibly see alot of full court pressure this year or some half court traps.

Has Shane Ward grown any? Hopefuly he can get his confidence back in his shot and shoot the ball more. He looked very tentative in the sectional game against Fairland last year.
