No, it doesn't "count"...Foundation Games are like exhibition games. Basically, it's a game-situation scrimmage so coaches can have another opportunity to test their players and a charity has a way to make a little money.
But does it matter? Yes......

TVC will be the stronger of the two confs. So VC dont get youre hopes to high just because you beat Warren, keep working hard.
way to be a jerk.
don't put down our kids.
they work hard, and are not "weak"
Re: Warren Warriors 09-10
... the overall strength of the SEOAL AND the TVC remains to be seen ... with that said the "foundation game" win is a good indication that VC will be able to defend last years championship ... experience at the guard position is a big part of the Viking TEAM this season led by Grillo,Allen, Lawhead ... a very experienced senior group for Coach Combs to boot ... at this stage of the "season" VC IS the favorite in the TVC Ohio - they will have to prove "themselves" otherwise imo - ie. someone will have to take the title away from the McArthur boyz ... Warren - of course the Warriors would have liked to come away from this "exhibition" game with the "W" but as in any scrimmage situation a coach is looking to put a variety of players on the floor in all kinds of situations ... I'm sure both coaches had the same philosophy ... as a coach you want to "see" on film how the kids respond, you are looking for things to improve on, looking for specifics that need to be worked on in the next 2 weeks ... losing is NOT a bad thing , gives a coach "evidence" of areas of needed work ... it's all good ... personally what I will be looking for in the Warren boyz of Coach Maddox is to see if they have shored up some of those offensive situations where in the past the offense would "disappear" for extended periods of games - three , four , five minutes without a fg in games ... best of luck to both of these fine teams in the "regular season" ...
... SEOAL vs TVC ? ... 12 games will pit the leagues against one another during the regular season ...
* Logan ... Athens , Vinton County
* Marietta ... Fed Hock, Belpre
* Warren ... Meigs, Belpre, Belpre
* Gallia Academy ... Athens, Meigs
* Jackson ... Wellston, Meigs, Vinton County
... we'll keep an eye on these match-ups as the 2009-10 campaign unfolds ... THEN we can at least have some "data" to back up each leagues claims to having the competitive edge ...

Re: Warren Warriors 09-10
To say the TVC is better than the SEOAL based on 1 game is ridiculous. Warren, Logan, Chilly or Marietta would give VC a run for their money in the TVC Ohio. IMO VC is the only team that could hold their own in the SEOAL. I am a TVC fan but facts are facts. VC is a very good team and they would play well with any squad in SE Ohio this year.

Re: Warren Warriors 09-10
Last night the Vikings played "less awful" than Warren. Neither team looked good. Both teams are better than they showed.
Both teams shot poorly. Number 23 for he Vikes, a player I thought played some JV and then dressed varsity
, won the game for them. He was the only player on the court that was shooting well. I'd like to see the stats. I'll bet Warren shot about 25%. Sheesh.
It's tough to win a tight game on the road. Venham fouled out with nearly 3 minutes to go. Then, VC was in the double bonus while they only had 4 of their own team fouls. Warren did not play a "composed" game down the stretch.
Both teams will be fine this season. I wouldn't go making any grand statements about Warren or the SEOAL based on a single pre-season game.

Re: Warren Warriors 09-10
Had an opportunity to watch this last night, and I thought both teams showed promise. I wouldn't read too much into who won this game. Both coaches looked to be substituting a lot of players in and out. Both of these teams are well coached and well stocked with talent.
Re: Warren Warriors 09-10
I love watching these boys in blue play. Venham, Cunningham, Ellenwood sure make a game fun to watch!

WWF, that is an interesting analysis of last night's game.
My friend, no JV player played in last night's varsity contest. Number 24 is a senior and three-year varsity player. The Vikings were, I believe, 18 of 38 from inside the arc and 2 of 8 from outside the arc, the Warriors out-rebounded the Vikings 32-29, and the Vikings committed more turnovers, 18-17. Disclaimer, it was also preseason for me, the statistician.
For the Vikings;
#23 Levi Lawhead - JR- 19 points
#11 Ethan Allen - SR - 12 points
# 5 Taylor Reed - SR - 9 points
# 2 Andy Grillo - SR - 6 points
# 32 Dylan Guthrie - SR - 5 points
# 24 Steve Thompson - SR - 3 points
# 22 Adam Ward - JR - 3 points
# 12 Jason Wiseman - JR - 0 points
These eight were the only Vikings that saw the floor during the Varsity contest.

Re: Warren Warriors 09-10
Hawkeye, I guess I was referring to number 23. He had a great game. I thought he had some JV minutes, but could have been mistaken (I often am). He was one of the relatively "shaggy" headed players for VC and not tall. I know Andy, Dylan and Ethan (although it took us a while to figure out who Ethan was with the short hair) from the AAU days, but was not familiar with this player.
Do you have Warren's shooting stats? AWFUL.

Re: Warren Warriors 09-10
Both teams got after it. Looked like a regular season game to me. Coaches coaching, players battling each other. Warren had a layup with a 2 pt lead late that turned into a circus shot type turnover and a bucket on the other end for VC. Lawhead was money from mid range.

Re: Warren Warriors 09-10
Warren looked very good last nite in their scrimmage against Philo, but on the other hand, Philo looked not bad but just weak on offense and defense. That pretty much sums it up. Philo had no answer for Grant Venham's inside game. Ellenwood and Knost was to strong inside on defense and rebounding. When we played zone defense one quarter, they could not score. Fivecoait and Lang ran the offense with ease and Lang was hitting from long range on a couple of shots. Austin Cunningham was nursing a little injury and taking it easy on the side supporting his cast and crew. I bet he was counting the days till game time!!!! ( 9 DAYS ) GAME ON
