Thanks, Tobias for the info......and I've been to Marietta.......you're right......it is not easy to win there......in fact, we lost there last year 57-55.......and the Tigers just got their first SEOAL win at Jackson yesterday.

I will say it one more time. If Portsmouth is not a top 4 seed, the process is way out of whack and needs to be changed. Undoubtedly, Ironton should be the #1 and I have Portsmouth at a #3 or #4.

Why should Ironton be a 1 seed over Oak Hill?

Two wins over Chillcothe, two wins over Warren, a win over Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Africentric. Wins over Jackson on the road, Gallia Academy on the road and Logan at Home. They havent lost since early December and have won 10 straight. Ironton plays in a much tougher conference.
Ironton had a bad loss early to Manchester, but Oak Hill had an equally horrific loss to Huntington St Joe.
I believe Oak Hill is a very solid ball club. They may even be better than ironton. However, objectively, most would agree that Ironton's wins, partcularly the two vs. D2 Chillicothe is pretty impressive.
Dont get me wrong. i said ironton should be the number one. They will not be voted number one. The OVC and the SOC will team up and Oak Hill will be number one. Heck, I wouldnt be suprised if Ironton was #3 or #4 and was paired vs. portsmouth in the sectional final.

If Portsmouth can win out to the draw.......6 more games, and beat Chesapeake the night before the draw, the Trojans could put a 13-5 record on the board.......that might be enough to get a #5 seed, but we shall see.......we've got to take care of business with those 6 games these next 2 weeks.

Trojandave just said it right...get past those next 6 games. Portsmouth has the Peake at home. That aint gonna be a cakewalk. If they win that and are ranked below Peake, then I will call it a disgrace. Peake has two games with South Point left also and a game against Huntington St Joe Tuesday. So their schedule is getting tough at the end...not like it wasnt tough with the first three games of the year! Its gonna be a doozy of a Sectional regardless.

These two players may attest that they did indeed learn some pretty good skills while playing in the SHL.So come on down, play some games and pad your stats in the SHL. If you can.

Other then Manchester, who justed started a couple of years ago, none of the schools have football which gives you more time to prepare for a season since your athletes aren't playing football. You also have less chance of having a player injured during football season thus hampering your basketball season. My point is since there is no football at these schools and they are basically known as "basketball" schools then they should be good year after year.

RIght now I'd go

#1 Ironton
#2 Oak Hill
#3 South Point
#4 Chesapeake
#5 Portsmouth

One of these 5 teams won't make the districts and that is a shame compared to the other 2 sectionals

Portsmouth will be a team everyone tries to avoid and they don't have any league representation to assist them. They were avoided last year as they and North Adams were screwed and I'd bet about anything they'll be in the #4/#5 game.

Portsmouth IMO is a top 5 D3 team in all the SE district and would be an easy choice #2 seed at Athens

1. Ironton - they are for real and will be hard to beat and they could be unbeaten in the SEOAL
2. Oak Hill- soc winner
3. Portsmouth- they will finish 2 or 3 in conference and if anyother teams in this sectional besides ironton would not do better
4./5. Peake-S.Point depending on how the conference goes
6. Valley- dont sleep on valley they already beat south point
7.Burg- wont be easy for anyone
8. Coal Grove- alot of wins but very weak schedule
9. Minford
10. Rock Hill
11. West

16-4 beats 15-5 especially when the 16-4 has four or five league members voting.

It wouldnt matter. Just like strength of schedule does not matter. That came into play last year.

I agree with Ironman92's seed projections.......but the Trojans have to go 6-0 to the draw......if they do, a #5 seed is very possible.

Ironman and Trojandave, why would you put SP over Chesapeake? Granted they havent played each other yet (that will be Friday), but, Chesapeakes wins and losses have been over higher quality teams. Just my opinion. Just for the record, Peake beat Huntington St Joe tonight. Were up by 20 something at one point but let them hang around and only won by something like 14. But St Joe beat OAK HILL! So who knows on that one. South Point got waxed tonight by Zane Trace. AT the moment I would put Peake above them but there is always Friday. And I have to say this is all just hearsay. I didnt make it to either game tonight again!

Zane Trace vs. South Point:

1st SP 14-13
Half ZT 35-28
3rd ZT 55-33
Final ZT 73-43

Maxwell ZT 22 points 7 rebs 7 asst.
Haynes ZT 15 points
Davis ZT 18 points
Chamberlin ZT 9 rebs 3 blocks

South Point is very long and athletic. They have a very nice team.

Valley beat Wheelersburg last night and improve to 9-4. I look for Valley to come in at number 5 seed. They will come into the draw at about 13-5 or 12-6. They will have a similar record to South Point at the draw and they beat SP earlier in the year. That may be enough for them to slide ahead of South Point unless South Point can beat Chesapeake, then it will be up for grabs.

ovc fan: Chesapeake has an excellent chance to get that #3 seed now.......I don't know the Panthers schedule other than the Portsmouth game on Feb.13, but I would have to think CHS will take care of their business between now and that game........unfortunately for Portsmouth the Chesapeake game may not help the Trojans that much even if we win, because with the loss to Chillicothe, we now have 6 losses which will make it tough to get that #4 vs. #5 game. I think Portsmouth will most likely end up a #6 seed, having to beat Oak Hill or Ironton to get out of the sectional.

While I'd like to get a higher seed, I think the Trojans will throw a wrench into this whole thing as I don't think anyone will want to see the Trojans early on.

Actually the #6 seed would play #11 and the winner gets #3 Chesapeake...The Trojans would only see Oak Hill or Ironton if they got one of the #7 thru #11 seeds....if they cannot muster a couple of wins between now and the draw, they will come in with the 7th best record, then it comes down to the politics and voting...I'm sure people will try to avoid them...
