Would ZT have beaten' Bloom Carroll in the 3 OT loss , when they lost Haynes 2 minutes in? Yes.
The kid went for 34 against Peebles without Haynes again in a 66-61 loss.
Was ZT mentally gone when they visited Piketon 2 days after losing Haynes ? Yes.
ZT won at VC. VC beat Piketon.
ZT has a 1 game lead over Piketon.
Piketon lost at Huntington full strength.

Ask South Point how good Maxwell is?

Good players lead their teams and rally them. Legg has done his best. Legg win own his POY in 2010-11.

But sorry ,Maxwell has done a better job of that. He will win POY this year.
Don't forget ZT didn't have Tripp or Haynes in uniform at Unioto.
All Maxwell did was score 16 of ZT's 22 first half points against UHS and finish with 27 points, 10 rebs ,and 5 assists. In a 55-37 win.

I'm sure Maxwell could average 25-28 a game if some games were not blowouts and he was taken out very early.
The best part about Maxwell is that he doesn't care about awards , but winning games and sometimes guarding a 5'10'' kid or 6'8'' kid is what Maxwell is asked to do and does it unselfishly.
League title or POY . I'm sure Maxwell is more concerned about trying to win a league title.

Should non league games be considered for SVC POY? What do the coaches consider when voting? Just curious. I wish we could see their numbers against the svc rivals. The Streaks had a rough non league schedule...Mifflin, Zanesville, Waverly, Hillsboro.

Alley deserves coach of the year if they win the league because of his coaching ability without Haynes early on and if some how Piketon wins it there should be Co Coach of the year because of what both coaches went through very similar situations. But in my opinion (which really doesn't matter) Legg should be POY. Like coach Kelly said stats were even and Legg was better head to head. But I'm sure Maxwell will win if Trace wins the league.

Why does everyone think that how a player did against the team of the other player is a deciding factor for who should get POY? Maxwell will win this award. He and Legg are averaging almost identical stats, Zane Trace is leading the SVC, and he is the senior(yes it matters in high school basketball) leader of his team. Legg will have his shot at it next season.

If there was a junior who was a glaring favorite(say a junior/soph/freshman was averaging 28ppg compared to a senior's 18ppg), then by all means give it to him, but what has Legg done this season to make him an easy choice over Maxwell? POY consists of a complete body of work, not on the point totals of 2 games.

My son has played both these players teams and defended them both. He is 100% in the Maxwell corner, good outside shot, inside presence and a better defender. Give it to him, he deserves it. Also remember Legg was held to I believe 8 pts against a scrappy Huntington team. He is a good player and will be even better next year, politics stopped Maxwell from winning the football POY, dont do it to him 2 times.

You're right sefan ^. The All-SVC football selections were a joke. I hope basketball doesnt go the same direction and create about 12 different types of player of the year. But hey, we're all winners in today's world!

Thank goodness the coaches will decide.....my vote would be CO-MVP, just based on how both kids has handled themselves and their teams in the midst of Adversity. Saying wait until next year because you are a junior is not a justifiable reason to keep a kid from getting the votes. Stats are about even, remove both players from their teams and you will see a big difference. Legg has faced a box and one defense every game I've seen him play this year, and Maxwell is in all conversation when you talk about ZT's success. Both kids are deserving....so give it to both....what will it hurt?

I think it will have more to do with ZT winning the league (if they indeed do) instead of one kid being a senior and the other kid being a junior.

I do not always agree that the POY should go to the best player on the best team, but if all the stats are similar between two kids, I think team success is def. a factor.

Have seen both kids play and both are excellent players. I guess I will lean torwards Legg just to be a bit of a homer. Both kids are deserving.

Hands down Maxwell the coaches are gonna give it to the senior hes a leader and will continue to lead his team to W's i see them going (FAR) in tourneys and finishing out over HHS by atleast 30 friday night...dont get me wrong legg is a great player but not the best in the svc and maxwell is a clutch player leggs not...but i guess we will see who wins it in a week or so

how can you make that statement.lol This is not a hands down question... Two different players... Piketon beat ZT by 30 was Haines worth 30? I Doubt it. ZT beat PIketon by 4 was Southworth worth 4 pts you bet he was. Now I think the world of both young men and feel they represent the league verry well.. I would like to see co POY. Will it happen doubt it politics of the SVC will not allow that to happen.

And the statement that Maxwell doesn't care about awards and that makes him a born leader.... Where have I read that Evan Legg is worried about POY.. What I read is Piketon fans and ZT fans supporting their kid. If I were picking an all star team today Both would be my first team.

Realistic... I don't put value in the fact that the best player from the best team should win the award.
If we want to think like that how many points did Maxwell have against Piketon.....
I think Maxwell will win the league because many feel as you.... I will not be upset because Kirk is a great representative and young man..... Really like him and his family. However both have put up simular stats and separated by one game in the league. My only problem is some on here make it sound as though Evan is less a team player and young man than Kirk.... This is far from true.. Their roles are different on their teams.
