Does Athens or Vinton County want to schedule Wheelersburg? They used to play both in the regular season in the past but since combined they only went something like 2-6, neither series was continued.

Wheelersburg plays Waverly regularly of course. Gallia is DII which is one of the reasons that I hate to see that series discontinued. Portsmouth, Fairland and Northwest each were DII at one point but all have dropped into DIII recently. In the past five years, Wheelersburg and Chillicothe have played twice in the regular season with the series at 1-1. Chillicothe won the year that they went on to win the state with Wheelersburg winning the year before. Greenfield McClain did win on a last second 3-point shot the last time the two teams played but overall Wheelersburg is ahead in the series. Wheelersburg has a winning record against Washington Court House. You don't want to know Jackson's all time record against Wheelersburg. That one is really ugly but they played regularly for more than a decade. The Pirates haven't played Logan Elm, Warren and Sheridan much as they are too far away to play for a regular season game so I don't know about those three but certainly wouldn't mind seeing a game with one of them.

I will tell you who has given Wheelersburg a tough time and that is the DII size schools from Kentucky (Greenup and Boyd). They have better basketball teams in Kentucky than in Ohio--on the average--and it pains me to say that. Ohio is better in football but...

Not sure when VC played burg...but i know it wasnt anytime during the Comb's era. VC was terrible in basketball before then with many teams holding an advantage in the win column over VC.

VC doesn't need to play a small school like Burg to prove itself
Besides Ive heard VC has trouble finding non league games because teams dont want to get beat in the non league.

If burg wants to play Im sure it can be arranged but I would bet to say it wont happen
