Logan Basketball Coach Keith Myers Resigns

I believe that LOGAN is a Sleeping Giant when it comes to basketball. If the new coach can get the talent to buy into his program it will be a winner year after year. Coach Maddox at Warren is from Logan and would do an excellent job if Logan school district would give him & Sally a moving package (that's if they both are interested in moving back home).

Second person is Dan Bise at Logan Elm he knows basketball and would do an excellent job also.

Thrid person is Larry Jordan from Southeastern/Jackson City he told them (Jackson City) to stick it where the sun doesn't shine. Why, because they didn't want him to practice the team when there wsn't no school. He couldn't get the players ready to play when everyone else was practing. I don't blame Coach Jordan at all in resigning from the position.

Forth person is Norm Perison from Oak Hill he would practice Logan players all year around. He would build a program that would win the league title and get blasted in the frist round of the tournament.

Good post, It will be a mistake to hire from within! I am almost sure a coach can work, let's say Athens and coach at Logan.

Even though I agree with you stopsign, regarding coach Maddox , I for one could not picture any other coach on Warren's sideline besides Blain Maddox. After the year he had this past year, it is very unlikly Warrior Nation will let Blain and Sally leave. But Good Luck to Logan in their search for a new head coach, hopfully you will make the right choice for your program.

sky brusco, former Logan Elm assistant, would be a good choice. He was also successful in his short stint @ Fairfield Christian before working @ Ohio Christian University last year

Only DI school in area and they have to go into Central District for tournaments. Who would want this job. They will only be lucking to win a sectional game every year. They don't have the talent to compete in the central district come tournament time. Seems like a dead end job.

The people on this thread are the reason teachers, coaches and administrators think the internet sports boards are full of idiots, You throw around names like candy without having a clue who would even WANT the job or why they would leave their present one.

Judging from actions of the recent past in Gallipolis, Logan, and Jackson I dont know why any coach worth his salt would want to jump from the frying pan into the fire. Heck, a few of the names being tossed out there are in their 60s for crying out loud. Do you honestly think a quality school like Logan is looking for a band aid?

It sounds to me like you might want to consider interviewing one of our elected Senators or Congressmen. You dont need a coach; you need a politician who knows whose butt to kiss and how often. Just dont let him kiss your baby after doing that though!

Why bring up football? If winning and losing is all your athletic programs are about then you are missing the boat on the true meaning of high school sports. Are you on the boys soccer sight calling for that guys job? How about the baseball program? Are you head hunting for Janey's job? They did not win a single game last year! How about volleyball? They have not had a winning season in several years. Are you and your "little group" going after the volleyball coach? If all you are looking is wins and losses then you better be getting the knife out of Keith's back and sticking in all the other coaches in Logan athletics that are not winning. I am going to go out on a limb, and I have not checked any other topic, but I am guessing it is a safe bet that you are not on any other topic with you knife sticking in any other coaches back.
As I have stated before, moonschein, you represent everything that is wrong with high school sports. You sit in the stands and do nothing but complain. You did not answer my question from my last post. Have you sent in your resume? Are you willing to come out from the saftey of the stands and put yourself and your reputation on the line? Its real easy to sit in the stands and whine about a problem, you now have the opportunity to get up and do something. What are you going to do? You have done nothing but run your mouth about how bad Keith and his staff were. As I said in my last post, please moonschein come out of the stands and save Logan basketball.

Eaglesrock, They have made coaching changes in the other sports that have struggled. Volleyball has had 3 coaches in 3 years I think. Baseball has had coaching changes as well. Boys basketball is the only sport in Logan that has had several losing seasons in a row that did not have coaching changes, until now. Whoever they hire may not do much better, but I don't think they will do much worse over several seasons., than Keith has.

I know for a fact that the last baseball coach and all the volleyball coaches all resigned on their own. They were not asked to resign. There was no pressure put on them by anyone.

Whether they resigned on their own or were asked to resign, changes took place to try to improve the sport. Maybe the coaches in the other sports felt they were not the right person for the job because they couldnt win, and stepped down on their own. I don't know. But I know Keith was given plenty of time to turn things around and it continued to go downhill.

Spartan, You are entitled to your opinion, this is a public forum that contains very few facts, but an over-abundance of opinions. If my kid was playing on an AAU team where all the parents were okay with losing season after losing season just because the coach worked hard, I would find another team. In school athletics, it is very difficult to switch teams, (It involves moving, which is very expensive) So the coach has to change. Should we be content to sit back and watch the basketball program continue on a downward spiral? It is usually people without kids involved that do not want the change. The administrators probably do not want to deal with these situations either. I have a feeling if Keith had not been from Logan, with his own personal success on the field and court he would have only lasted 2 seasons here. There would not have been a need for public outcry, the administration would have taken care of it. My opinion is that Keith was given plenty of time to turn things around.
