Trimble Hires Howie Caldwell as next basketball coach

It is my understanding that there is now State Law that says the Board may hire whoever it wants----teachers don't automatically get preference.

This will likely go to arbitration. The paper has only posted the school's responses. When does Curt Moore get to defend himself? If the responses are accurate why would they continue to hire him for several years, or even employ him as a teacher? It sounds like the super has the final say on who gets hired anyways.

Lets face it! If the old coach cared anything about the school system he works for, he would not have filed the grievance! The only thing he cares about is getting paid. I think he should drop the grievance and face the facts that no one wants him around. This is not about him and his ego, its about the kids.

Didn't Koons file a grievance back when they fired him? What is wrong with coaches just realizing it is time to move on?

It's embarrassing for Moore at this point. He just looks like a sore loser. They wanted someone else and the got him. Contracts should not be set just so you have to keep the same coach year in and year out. Maybe some TVC championships or a couple Districts would have helped him out. under achieved as a coach, period. Move on.

This is simply an opinion, and not a criticism. Actually, more of an observation. You don't like it, I DON'T CARE. Howie is now officially the "Larry Brown" of the TVC. He's nothing more than a coaching nomad, period.

Prove me otherwise.

I'd love to see the over/under on how long it will be before Howie is coaching at Miller, Belpre, or Wahama in the next 3 years. That would be hysterical......... :122245

I'am actually surprised he didnt go to Wahama already. Its close to his home and much easier to make a deep tournament run in WV.

I think Howie will be the coach next year. If the prior coach wins his grievances all that means is that the Board will have to pay them both. It has happened before at schools.

Considering how many years he's been at it, 4 different schools doesn't seem like that big of deal - and hardly a coaching nomad.
