Everyone is focusing on the top three, but a team that's pretty athletic like Sheridan could throw a cork into things come tourney time.

IMO. Until someone knocks Warren out of the tournament ,who happens to be the defending district champ, there is no discussion who is the team to beat is in S E O .
Re: DII Logan Sectional
The champs are the champs until someone knocks them off. Agree completely with that sentiment.

You won't have to wait long ... I'm guessing about 9 days from today ...bman wrote:The champs are the champs until someone knocks them off. Agree completely with that sentiment.

I'm referring to the tournament, not a regular season game. Nice try. :122249 :122249 :122249 :122249

Re: DII Logan Sectional
With the losing streak we have to Warren at this point - even a win during the regular season will feel like a championship!!!

The Central District splits in to 2 districts with one champ coming to Athens and one going to Dayton. I think Bishop Waterson will be the one seed and they will pick to come to Athens.

Re: DII Logan Sectional
I think that being defending District Champs and both playing an equally demanding schedule, the Warren/Athens winner in late January should have the inside track to the #1 seed providing they win out the remainder of the year. Thus far teams that Warren and Athens have played have a .570 winning percentage (Warren 65-49 Athens 73-55) a virtual tie. Logan Elm's opponents are at .510. (74-71). With 3 tough games with Bishop Hartley, Fort Frye and a return match with Fairfeild Christrian Academy, Warren looks to have the toughest remaining schedule.
Coach Maddox has proven year after year his teams are playing their best basketball come Febuary-March. 2010 Athens, 2011 Portsmoth, 2012 Chilly and then 2013. Last season after the loss to Cols Upper Arlington they were lots of doubters watched while that team reeled off 21 straight on their way to the State Final 4.
Which team has the best chance to advance thru the tournament and represent the District in regional and hopefully state level competition has got to be a factor when selecting seeds.

^the team that has the best shot to play with state teams is Athens. Only team with length and speed. SVSM game is case and point. Warren got killed by watterson. Athens played with a more skilled svsm team. Logan elm got killed by a team Portsmouth killed

Re: DII Logan Sectional
The only team with length and speed are you serious? Warren can match Athens player for player and then some. What Athens goes 6 deep? Warren goes 8-9 and has 4 kids scoring double figures most nights. For your info Cols Bishop Watterson beat Cle St Joe whom most condider the best team in Ohio regardless of division. St Joe beat Akron St V. I believe St V has already lost 5-6 games. Athens survived Valley /w some questionable no calls at the end of regulation. Warren beat Valley double digits. Like I said come January 21st it will all be on the line and the kids and coaching staffs will decideRAIDER6309 wrote:^the team that has the best shot to play with state teams is Athens. watterson upset SVSM 55-52 last year. Akron is deeper than last year but doesn't have a true postEasternDspy wrote:Waterson beat SVSM bad last yr.
Re: DII Logan Sectional
SVSM is not the SVSM team of old. They were 5-6 going into the Athens game
And it was their star players first game back from injury after missing several games. If all stays the same Kogn Elm deserves the number one seed. It will be a great sectional.

1. That was not V.J. King's first game back, he played in the game before the Athens match-up.athens78 wrote:SVSM is not the SVSM team of old. They were 5-6 going into the Athens game

2. V.J. King is not their best player at this point, Jalen Hudson (Virginia Tech signee) is.
3. They are very much the ASVSM of old. The schedule they had played prior to Athens was incredible. (minus King for most of them)
4. They are the most talented team in D2 hands down! Just like in football, they will be in the state finals again this year. When you can recruit - and not just in Ohio but nationwide - not many D2 teams will be able to play with you.

What? That was considered the biggest upset of the entire state finals last year - and they barely squeaked out the win.EasternDspy wrote:Waterson beat SVSM bad last yr.

Re: DII Logan Sectional
1. Logan Elm did not get killed by Liberty Christian Prep ... they lost 71-56 ... 15 points is hardly "killed".RAIDER6309 wrote:Warren got killed by watterson. Athens played with a more skilled svsm team. Logan elm got killed by a team Portsmouth killed
2. Portsmouth beat Liberty Christian Prep 67-63 ... hardly a beat down by P-town.
ANY MORE WRONG INFORMATION I NEED TO CORRECT ON THIS THREAD? .....
