I don’t know , I’m not a basketball guy , just a fan. I think we have 3-4 kids over 6’1” . I think the days of the true big man are over anyways. I think Jackson could be very good though.JohnDenver wrote: Thu Oct 10, 2019 8:51 am Poo - Who do you think will be the big inside this year then?
Re: Jackson Ironmen 2019
Jackson will have several options on how they play the real big guys but basketball has changed a bit and Jackson is right with the times.
Braxton Hammond at 6’3 can guard anyone from 5’6 to 6’6. Caden Donaldson at 6’2 and his crazy volleyball skills can hound offensive players. Caleb Wallis is as good as they come on defense. Evan Spires can guard anyone and plenty strong/smart enough to hang underneath. If Davis plays there is your answer. Winters can bang underneath. If Landen Erwin plays he can as well. Geoffrey Jenkins could see some chances as well.
But if you can’t be where you are supposed to, you won’t play. Morrow will have 5 very good defenders on the court a lot...and that can be orchestrated to take care of the big guy. The ultimate challenge is guarding Noel of Chillicothe AND Maughmer

Only return 3 of the top 7 from last season but don’t look for a down year at all. A lot of big improvements from players.
1st scrimmages tonight starts Adena. Jackson won 5 quarters and tied one. JV exactly the same.

Heard Caleb Wallis killed it last night. He’s the best baller I’ve seen in a long time.

Scrimmage today at Rio with Jackson/Fairfield Union/Warren/Fairland
Great scrimmage IMO. 10 min running clock until final minute.
Jackson defeated Warren 2x and Fairland 2x. Tied both match ups with FU.
Great coaches at this showing. FU is nicely sized. Started (estimates) 6’5, 6’4, 6’3, 6’3, 6’1...bench 6’3, 6’1...maybe more just hard to keep track. Jackson and FU just seem really close from what I watched. I don’t think very many SE district teams are going to beat FU
For Jackson Caleb Wallis looks like a top 3 player in the entire district. He’s improved so much from his great junior season. Teammates Braxton Hammond and Caden Donaldson are just tremendous on defense and have good length (for Jackson). Shooters Griffin Brown and Boston Kuhn hit plenty of shots . Sophomore Drew Bragg has added about 15 pounds to his frame and it will help him. He was active on boards, helped with ball and hit some shots. Bench players Kuhn, Caleb Hutchinson and Landon Erwin got a lot of looks and all do their thing (Kuhn hit shots, Hutch active athlete and Erwin strong tough athlete)...all going hard on defense. Sophomores 6’2 Nate Woodard and 6’2 Logan Miller got a few opportunities and fit in well.
Freshman 6’2 Jacob Winters just finished up late last night in football. He will add bulk and athleticism for Coach Morrow. 6’0 sophomore Evan Spires will be in the main mix when he returns maybe the 1st of the year. Those two will add. Sophomore Holden Blankenship broken arm may be able to get back by February and will help and add depth.

Wallis could very well be top 3 in the entire district. Especially if you are speaking of Division 2 SE district.
The scary part is he could be top 3 and still be 3rd best in the conference
Good rundown. Agree that Fairfield Union is going to be top-notch (again). But so will Your Jackson Ironmen
Camp North Star > Camp Mohawk

How did the scrimmage at Jackson go last night with I think Oak Hill, South Point, and Piketon? I wasn’t able to make it
Re: Jackson Ironmen 2019-20
I was all JV watching. Didn’t see a play of Jackson varsity, saw a small bit of Piketon/SP/OH varsity3sUp wrote: Thu Nov 21, 2019 2:50 pm How did the scrimmage at Jackson go last night with I think Oak Hill, South Point, and Piketon? I wasn’t able to make it
Heard Jackson went 4-2 with OH taking both quarters by 3 but no individual details other than Hammond was very good
