... Pinkerton from Warren - we KNOW he has played vs varsity talent @ Warren & he has gotten a solid fundamental base to go with it ... throw in 6-3 size, I'm thinking he has a good wing span too ... good pickup for EB ... sounds like Coach Beucler's EB squad with a good group of seniors this season will have a very good group of youngin's (sophomores) that will get PT this season and be ready to step in next season ... Barber will be a great leader THIS year with the senior group I mentioned BUT even more so NEXT season with the youngsters ... thanks Warrior1990

Wow, folks, buckle up because the Indians of Western Pike are about to bring some fireworks this season! With Drew Haggy back in the fold, Coach Williams and his crew have a lot to be excited about. You’ve got Haggy, Janes, and who can each drop 20 on any given night And a sleeper Owens, let’s not forget about Kam Janes—this guy went beast mode all spring and summer. He’s primed for a breakout year, and with Haggy’s return, it’s like adding rocket fuel to the offense.
don't sleep on the rest of the team. Coach Williams has a little depth on his side with guys like Clay, Davis, Kerns, and even the sophomore big man Josiah Satterfield, who’s ready to contribute valuable minutes. And keep an eye out for the newcomers—a freshman and a foreign exchange student who could be a surprise. This team may lack traditional size, but they make up for it with speed, defensive intensity, and a relentless full-court press. They're going to push the pace, play 94 feet of high-octane basketball, and force teams to match their tempo.

Sure, they will have to figure out how to deal with bigger teams who want to pound it inside, but hey, even big men have to put the ball on the floor like pfloyd said, If the Indians can force those bigs out to the perimeter and make them uncomfortable, they’ll have a chance to level the playing field. Don't count Western out just because last year's record was a bit lopsided—they were playing up all season against top-tier competition like Wheelersburg, Waverly.
This team is battle-tested, and with the basketball DNA of Coach Williams running through them, they are going to be a fun team to watch. The D7 rankings are in for a shakeup, and trust me, the Indians are going to make some noise this season!

I’d love to see Kam Janes and Drew Haggy step up their assist numbers this season. They averaged around 2.5 to 3 assists per game last year, but bumping that up to 5 or 6 each could be crucial for Western’s success in the tournament. Sharing the ball more will open up the offense and make them even tougher to defend.

Symmes Valley High School could emerge as a sleeper team in the coming season, thanks to standout players like Ethan Smith and Simpkins. Smith, known for his "gamer" mentality and long, flowing hair, brings a dynamic presence to the court that energizes both his teammates and the crowd. His ability to perform under pressure, coupled with Simpkins' consistent scoring, makes the duo a formidable force. If they continue to play with confidence and elevate their game, Symmes Valley could surprise many and make a strong run in their conference. I watch them in the summer & man did coach carpenter have them playing with intensity.

SOC 2 will be a fun league to watch this season and Symmes will be very solid. Smith is one of the toughest PGs to guard around.

D7 I think a lot of people are sleeping on Western Pike. Don’t be surprised if they end up at or in the top 3-4 in D-7 in our area. A lot will depend on bench depth though.

North Adams loses copas the player and copas the coach but they return 3 good seniors that won’t let expectations slip. I think Lucasville Valley is missing from your list of D6 Pfloyd. I remember them having a strong soon to be sophomore class there. They will be a tough group.

Overall D6 could be very interesting in my opinion.
Agreed on Valley. Their junior and sophomore classes both won the Scioto County championship in junior high, so they should be a tough out in D6. Loss of Vice to Northwest hurts, and rebounding/interior defense seems to be their biggest question marks. I could see them finishing anywhere from 4th to 6th in SOC III, but still having the talent to get to D6 Regionals.*
Hard to foresee Valley making a regional in ‘25 with a plethora of Soph & Juniors without much experience. Especially after losing the top player in the area last year to UPike

Agreed 100.. SOCII could be full on excitement night in and out. Top 3 in order SV, EP, WP. Any of those 3 teams could bring home a league title.

9/21/24 ... Hoops regular season opens on 11/27/24 ... My plan is to post Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio- Preseason Edition during Week #11 of the Regular Football Season Sunday November 3rd ... got some adjustments to make as we've "picked up" some insider information from around the SE district in the past 6 weeks since the 2024-25 school opened up ... getting the In-season Classics nailed down on another thread ... have had few coaches make contact informing me of some good matchups they have on their schedules that I might want to pencil in for a Cheap Seat appearance ...

I'm getting psyched !!! ... nothing like getting out and supporting ALL of the players, Teams, Coaches throughout the SE District ... obviously you don't need to travel all over the place like I do BUT supporting the local teams you do live in the neighborhood of? - You gotta get out and do it ! I KNOW for a fact that SEO Basketball - the games, atmosphere, fans, coaching staffs - there is NOTHING better than high school hoops Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line ...

Getting closer and closer to the season already. On a side note I was pretty shocked Warren and Logan don't play each other this season. When was the last time they didn't?!

... I can't remember when this has EVER happened Whs95fan ... Logan dropped New Lex, Warren, Marietta, Chillicothe, Alexander kept or added Sheridan in a (preseason) Foundation Game, VC, Athens, Circleville, Nelsonville, Waverly for single contests to go with the 14 OCC games ... 5 games vs SE District teams ... only the Circleville & VC games are at home in Logan ... Waverly is at the Spartan Classic @ Alexander - might be the only game I'll see the Chieftains play this coming season as I want to see SEOhio teams - we'll see ... saw Coach Hayes work courtside this past summer, intense coach which gets everything out of his players - Logan should be improved over last season's 2-21 team especially after dropping Warren x 2, New Lex, Marietta as non-conference opponents ...

According to OHSAA the regional pairings will be:

D3 Region 11:
Central 2 v NE 6 and Central 1 vs E/SE I

D4 Region 15:
SE1 v Central 2
E 1 v SE 2

D5 Region 19:
SE1 v E1
E2 v SE2

D5 Region 20:
SW2 v SW3
SW4 v SE1

D6 Region 23:
SE 1 v E1
Central 1 V SE 2

D7 Region 27:
E1 v SE 2
Central 1 v SE 1

The SE will get 3 regional teams in D5 (two in region 19 and one in region 20). My team plays in the D6 East, it is brutal with Hiland, Malvern, Monroe Central, Fort Frye, Buckeye Trail and us among others.

DIII is gonna be tough to predict this year with so few teams you almost have to group them in with the east when comparing teams imo. Warren returns everyone from a season ago minus Taylor, and Tri-Valley returns their starting 5 with some other teams looking to make some noise. D4 should be ultra competitive this year with a solid top 10, can New Lex get over the hump this year?

I did not realize he was a senior, winning the district will be tough.
