Re: Green Bobcats
Dear Jumper, maybe the community just doesn't know or realize how inportant you are to the Bobcats. How would we ever survive in "Bobcat Territory" without your help???????
Re: Green Bobcats
This whole thing is rediculous........and people wonder why Green keeps losing kids to other schools. I could go right down the road to Wheelersburg and get an ALL STAR team of kids that live in The Furnace or whose parents were excellent student athletes at Green who chose not to let their children go here! Heck....the best basketball player in Lawrence County lives right behind our high school. When are people going to wake up and realize what is going on and demand some changes?

Re: Green Bobcats
I am from Green Township and registered just to ask this question. I have heard that the 15 players that were kept on Coach Kitchens team is the varsity and junior varsity teams. 2 teams, 15 players total. That gives you 8 players for the varsity game and 7 for the JV game based on 80 quarters per year, provided nobody gets hurt and none of the players will not have problems with grades. Can this be right?? If so, why cut anybody.
I hope its wrong, that there are 15 varsity players and who knows how many JV players. Anyone able to answer this?
Yes, it is very embarrasing. Like nothing but idiots live in Green Township. If he keeps the players this doesn't happen. If one or two quit, the JV season is over. Can you imagine no JV team at Green, and this is the guy thats gonna turn the program around. How stupid would that be! And the kid mentioned in the paper is one of the nicest kids you would ever meet. I've been to many games and seen the crowd react to the last JV player on the bench getting a bucket, whats wrong with that. Redsfan, who's the player you speak of?
Re: Green Bobcats
The player I am talking about plays for Ironton High School. He lives behind the school, and his mother is a teacher at Green. He is an excellent player who would automatically take our program to another level. I will not mention any names.

Re: Green Bobcats
BuckeyeFan66 I agree with you. J.V. players should have been part of the program. Sounds like the program is sure being turned in some direction. But it's more like turning it upside down then turning it around.

Re: Green Bobcats
How can you promise anyone anything Jumper? And I don't think the school board has weakened, I think they realize you can't put a Varsity and a JV team on the court with 14 players. I think they are trying to save the program, in my opinion anyway. As for you, I thought you said about 40 post ago you were done?
Re: Green Bobcats
I'm not saying I agree with the Coach's decision, but if the school board steps in on this they will never find a respectable coach to come here. Just let the coach do his job! Everyone is not going to agree with all decisions that are made...........you just shouldn't be able to run to the school board and get things turned around. The board should have just nipped it in the bud from the beginning, and said coach's decision is final. That's what we pay him to do. This is not pee-wee or Jr. High anymore.......everyone doesn't get to play! What about the cheerleaders who don't make the squad.................are they going to put them on next? What about the ones that don't get picked for the National Honor Society, or the ones that don't get picked for homecoming attendent?

Re: Green Bobcats
alright so let me get this right...special board meeting monday on another thread, and from what i am getting on this topic either the coach takes the kids he cut back on his own or the board will put them back and the coach will quit? Wow...wasn't it not long ago the Bobcats were fighting for SOC I titles and now some are wondering if the coach will be there for the first game...Things could only be starting, one thing is for sure if this keeps up Green will have to look hard for a good coach with wins under his belt to step in there and not coaches who are looking for their first jobs of a varsity coach.
Re: Green Bobcats
A few years ago, four to be exact, I watched a basketball team play with 12 players on their roster. They played a full varsity and JV schedule. On JV, they had only five players total and they each played the whole four quarters. It was tough. The players had to learn not to foul out. They finished at least two games with only four players and won. One game, they were winning until one player fouled out and a second was injured. They did end up losing by 4 points in a 5 on 3 battle. Both varsity and JV had winning records that season.
A roster of 14 or 15 would have looked very nice that year but the kids really benefitted from the intense experience. When those JV players were seniors, their team went 21-3.

Well here's the story. In hindsight I bet the coach wished he'd kept all 20 kids.
Great Point
Here is something for the Green Coach to consider.
This player is a Chillicothe Cavalier Student and he played Football for the Chillicothe Cavalier Freshmen Team during the 2006-2007 season wearing number 40.

He also started on the Chillicothe Cavalier Reserve Basketball Team during the 2007-2008 season, wearing number 42.

Sad to hear what's going on at Green. I bet that kid would have been given a chance to play on the Chillicothe Freshman Basketball Team this 2008-2009 season, if he lived in Chillicothe.
