Just for curiosity's sake, when was the last time Wheelersburg did not make it out of the sectionals?

OHSAA's website shows that Wheelersburg lost in the regional semi-finals to Bishop Ready.

Whatever, they still made it out of the sectionals last year no matter who they beat.

I just now realized that you had a "not" in there.....the effects of this flu have been devastating to say the least....

2004 was the last time that Wheelersburg did NOT make it out of the sectionals.

Went to the Burg game tonight and have to say this is the first time I've felt bad for Tom Barrick. Any other coach and this a 5 and 15 team.

Roger Grey on the radio , said this is the first time he ever remembers in all his years doing games, at least one d 3 team from Scioto county did not make it to the Convo.

he did say, New Boston would be our only boys team to play at the Convo this year :122246 :122246

he must know something the rest of us dont know yet

First off, congrats to the Dragons on the win. They were probably the quickest team Burg has faced all year.

Secondly, congrats to the Pirates on a great season. I don't think anyone expected a 16-6 season out of you and you guys went out and proved them wrong. Considering that you had one player coming back this year that had any varsity experience is a just a true testament to your will to win as a Pirate. I think the teams in the Southeast district need to be ready for the Burg next year because they will be coming into the tournament with a small chip on there shoulders.

Just wasn't meant to be tonight as the Burg got down by as many as 13 I believe, but then crawled back into it and actually had the lead midway through the 4th qtr. Couple of costly turnovers down the stretch sealed the Burg's fate as they played like a young, inexperienced team in the tourney. Like was said above, this was the first big tourney game for all of them except Stegman.

Burg will be back though, you can count on that.

Are you sure it was Roger? I don't recall seeing him there. I saw Snuffy.

If it wasn't for NB playing East, this might have been the first year in a long time that no one from Scioto county made it to the convo.

From memory, the last time the Pirates did not make it out of sectionals was about five years ago. And I think this makes three times in the last ten years.

Congratulations to Fairland. They played like they had eight seniors. In tournament, that means something. Several turned in intense games from the get-go and kept it up most of the game. Good luck the rest of the season.

you are correct in doc. In Coach Barrick's 15 years at the helm of the 'Burg, the only three years that Wheelersburg hasn't won a sectional title are: 1999, 2004, and 2009 (every fifth season!!).

Congrats to Coach Barrick, his staff, and the Pirates. You had an incredible season; very close to a share of a SOC title, competed in every ball game, and have learned a lot about yourself as a team. This is will continue to get better.

I'd like to wish Fairland the best as you continue your tournament run. Tonight was your night at Jackson. Burg put up a nice rally but came up just a bit short. If I am not mistaken, Burg took its first lead with 5:37 to play in the game 35-34 but two costly turnovers back to back and Fairland making free throws down the stretch was the difference.

Coach Barrick and Coach Massie did a tremendous job with a very young team this year. I think every single Burg fan would have been ecstatic at the beginning of the year if it was said you would finish 16-6 on the year. I enjoyed the season and look forward to next year.

Congratulations Pirates on a fine season. Nothing to be ashamed about. Looks like tonight shaped up to be a tough one for the SOC.
