belpre is going to have a small lineup so therefore my guess on the starting 5 will be.... waderker 1 tate 2 parsons 3 miller 4 watkins 5
Ok, first off, if this is your starting lineup Parsons would be at 2, Miller at the 3 and Tate at the 4...but i will have to disagree and put in Slattery instead of Parsons...I would bring Parsons in off the bench.
so at the 1 i would have Waderker 2 Slattery 3 Miller 4 Tate 5 Watkins
With Parsons as the 6th man and Leasure, Campbell and Williams also being contributors.
there is no way slattery will start varsity....he isnt better than any of those 5..he had one good game and then after he wasnt anything....you right parson will have to be the 2 and miller at the 3 and tate at the 4
The games i watched Slattery played very well, and i saw 8-10 games last year. He brings an intensity to the floor that no one else brings...he hustles, he listens...if would work on his decision making, he could be a very dangerous player, he turns the ball over too much....but after watching Parsons and Slattery, i would start Slattery anyday...Parsons loafs back on defense, reaches on defense and doesnt move his feet, if he misses a shot he is completely out of the game, makes terrible decision, drives into the post players then tries to make some behind the head shot and expects to get a foul called when he is 5'9 and the post players are 6'4, he doesnt play smart, its easy to get in his head...but i wil agree Parsons brings a lot to the floor, when he wants to play defense he can, he is a great on the ball defender when he wants to be on the other teams point guard, he can shoot the ball, if he is on...he is a very streaky shooter, hes a competitor, he hates to lose...If Belpre brings in the right coaches, they will be tough.
There is a physical education job that will be open for the next school year from a teacher retiring. The person that was interviewed for the job was also asked if they would be interested in the basketball coaching vacancy. With the money problems faced by the BOE I look for them to fill the position from with in the school system and have less people doing more things. Maybe Dr. Fleming could coach basketball too. A decision maybe made in the next week. Belpre is still in school until 6-5. It's been quiet and nobody is talking.
There was a Science and Language Arts position posted but not aware of any physical education position for the 2009-2010 school year that has been posted.
The summer league coach will most likely be a volunteer of one of the kids parent or parents. The summer league coach will more than likely not be the new head coach...Palmer could possibly be the summer league coach.
I meant anyh news on who the head coach will be?! Also, if Palmer is under contract he cannot coach except during the 10 contact days the state allows.
I heard it should be made official in a few days. It may shock some and may excite others with the choice. If rumors are true Belpre will be in great hands for the next few years................As always when a new coach or old coach takes over not everyone is happy. teach123 I am only going on my grapevine, you know how that goes in SMALL Belpre.
I heard the same thing today and I think they are bringing in a quality individual who has a tremendous amount of basketball knowledge and a coach who will be able to teach the kids as well as coach them and someone who the kids already know and respect and will bring out the best of their talents on and off the court.
Congratulations to Dave Parsons...this is a step up from Plummer and Williams...I think that Parsons will do a fine job, Channing has one more year, so after this year he will not have a kid in the system anymore...and he does not have any boys coming up, so i think this is a nice hire for Belpre. He has been around these kids his whole life and he knows what they are capable of, also i dont think he will put up with anyones crap..parents or kids.
I'm surprised the BOE went out of the system. Dave Parsons will do well with this team. He has coached these kids numerous times. This team WILL play defense and play hard on both ends of the floor and in the classroom. I have to say that I'm shocked by the pick, thought maybe the BOE would pick a young coach with some desire and no experience instead with Dave they got both desire and experience. I wish Coach Parsons well.
I have see what Dave Parsons likes. Starters in my eyes are...
1.Wadeker- Ball Handler/Defensive Threat 2.Parsons- Shooter/Great Defense at times 3.Slattery- Shooter/Great Intensity 4.Tate- TVC All Star 5.Watkins- Work Horse
Bench.. -Miller is the first one off to get Parsons or Slattery or Wadeker in the first few minutes of game because i see alot of pressing coming. -Campbell will become a threat with a big man as a coach. -Leasure,Ullman,Williams, and Nestor will be on the bench but in my opinion they dont have the Varsity talent to be playing.
it will be waderker good handler/defender the best defender/all tvc prediction parsons good denfender/good shooter Miller good shooter/handler/decent defender/all tvc prediction Tate Tvc player of the year/ Best player/ all tvc for fact Watkins Hard worker/all tvc/ prediction
off the bench Slattery decent player but not better than Miller parsons or waderker Cambell strong will work hard Leasure rebounder needs to work on his hands Nestor shooter needs to work on his defense Ullman defender Williams give parsons Miller waderker and Slattery a break
No Reggie is not coming back to Belpre. As far as who is going to start next year it could be any combination of these players depending on how much they have improved from last year. I know Coach Parsons will look at all of them and give them all a chance based on their skills and team play. All of these kids have played together since elementary school and they know how to play with each other.Looking forward to a return of great basketball at Belpre next year.
