If that is the case, they could possibly lose a couple guys they want if other jobs open up. Seen on here Webster is looking for a coach as well and I am sure other jobs are going to open up as well more than likely.

Then it shouldnt have been on this thread, and he should clarify things. Not close to being amusing.....then again some of us are mature, and some arent.

Yeah, just like the hook, line and sinker joke you guys were laughing at me about on the Valley, Westfall thread. Mature, you sound like my 5 year old, thinks its hilarious when they pull the joke, but get made fun of and cry and whine! He has an excuse, he is 5, whats yours? :122246 :122245 8)

Saying that a team will be playing 8 on 5 when they go to a certain school, it is in no way shape or form attacking an individual. Thats something we did to get people fired up, and it worked (on you) Now, to come on a thread where a coach has quit, and say "What is interesting is "A" coach (as you put it) quits to spend time with family, but is a bachelor" Without CLARIFYING anything, and with it being on a thread where a coach quit to actually be with his family is not "amusing" at all. And then to say it's an "inside joke", come on. If it's inside, take it to PM and keep it inside. I happen to be a friend of the family, and did not find it amusing.

The main thing you have to have is someone who knows ball, knows kids, and is dedicated to getting the best out of what they have to play with. Look at Coach Barrick and burg this year. He didn't have squat offensively but he coached a mediocre burg team to an outstanding season playing to the strengths that he did have. That is why it is important to make the right choice for Minford, whomever that is. College coaching experience doesn't always translate to success at the high school level--ask Clay. As far as coaches being involved at the pee-wee on up levels it is absolutely important. They don't have to be there all the time but puting the structure in place is vital to success later on, and let's face it... none of it means anything until high school. nobody remembers who won the pee-wee league or junior high games because it doesn't matter. Only the W's on varsity counts in the books so I know I would want to know what players are coming up, their skill level, and how soon they might be ready to play if I were a head coach. just my opinion.

I heard through the grapevine that their top two choices would be Travis Bradford or Josh Shoemaker. Now will they get either of those two or would either of those two choose to leave is another issue.

I heard those two were on the short list, but I also heard 2 other names were on the list. I hope that you are right and those are the only they are going after because although I have ties to both schools, I'd rather Fitch stay at Eastern. ;-)

I posted this same thing in the girls' forum. I thought it was fitting to put it on this post as well:

I think the adults who are posting on here on the girls and boys' basketball forums should keep the negativity down in regards to Minford. These players are KIDS and they read these things. I would bet a majority of the people who post on these forums are adults. What coach or kid would want to read the things that have been said about them (especially about former Minford coach Copley in the boys' forum) and stick around? Minford has good programs and they can be great year in and year out if the negativity subsides and the Minford fans stand behind their coaches, win or lose, good or bad.

The only thing I'd add to that is whoever becomes your next coach, stand behind him. Don't bash. IT TAKES TIME TO BUILD A WINNER. 10-10, 11-9, 12-8 for a few years is not bad in a competitve conference such as the SOC.

If Minford gets Bradford, East will lose both their Head Football and Basketball coach in same year. Someone in Sciotoville better help us keep our coaches.

you're kidding about the Richards thing right? If somebody wants to give him his shot at the "big time" let Clay do it not Minford. Shoemaker, Bradford, Fitch are your safest bet.

I heard Fitch won't leave Eastern. Kids go there now or something. I don't know about Bradford but Shoemaker is probably looking for an out after what he dealt with this season.
