The Eastern Eagles 64

What a game? The high flying, league leading Eagles came to the den and looked like they were going to fly away with the game. Neither team could score early in the first quarter. The half time score was 30-16. The Eagles were up about 20 points or so in the third quarter, when the Tigers came alive and scratched their way back within 2 or tied at 55-55? with just a minute or two to go in the game. The Eagles made their free throws down the final stretch and came away with a hard fought victory.
Congratulation Eagles! Congratulation Tigers......what a effort you gave, never giving up.........Tiger fans are proud of you!

First of all, Congratulations to Levi Horsley accomplishing the 1,000 point tonight on his way to a 40 point performance.
The Tigers lead at the half 38-29.
Levi get's 1,000 point at the 12.7 mark of the third period.........
Vikings tied the score at 1:03 left in the game
Error found in scorekeepers book/corrected score 68-67
Young Viking at the line at the end......misses both (I truly feel sorry for this young man, struggling with the fact both missed and bounced off the rim...........please remember that everyone misses sometime. Keep your head up.........there is a lot of basketball yet to be played)
Tigers rebound.........Vikings foul.............Tiger put in one of two
The final 69-67.
How ironic, this is the same score at Symmes Valley with the Vikings getting the win!

Glenwood’s Levi Horsley tops 1,000

Friday’s late boys basketball results:
In what would have been a thrilling contest anyway, Glenwood’s Levi Horsley added more drama when reached 1,000 career points during the Tiger’s 69-67 win over visiting Symmes Valley and carved himself a place in the history books.
The 6-4 senior got off to a hot start and his teammates knew the 1,000-point barrier was approaching in the second half.
“It wasn’t part of the plan but in the third quarter the kids realized he was getting close and kept getting him the ball,†Glenwood coach Don Stapleton said.
As has been the case for most of the last four seasons, feeding Horsley the ball was the winning recipe as the Vikings missed two free throws late in the game that ultimately gave the Tigers the win.
With more than 1,000 points to his name, his coach reflected on Horsley’s progression as a player and what the achievement means.
“He has been very healthy and very consistent in his work ethic and his average points have gone up every year,†Stapleton said. “He has a better mindset than he had as a freshman and has become more of a team player even though his points have gone up.
“It’s nice to know that this is something he will always have with him and he can be very proud of that. He’s part of the history here now and will have a banner with his name on it in this gym and the new one.â€
