OVC previews set

The Ohio Valley Conference boys’ basketball preview will be held Friday at River Valley High School.

The new building is located on State Route 160 in Bidwell.

The preview will consist of two quarter games. Here is the schedule:

6 p.m. South Point vs. Coal Grove; 7:15 Rock Hill vs. Fairland; All-OVC awards for football, cross country and golf; 8:30 River Valley vs. Chesapeake

I think that Rock Hill will be pretty good...but I cant say much until after previews.
The new coaching has helped and you can see that in just scrimmages, I cant wait until the games.
For a fact, they WILL be able to run the court and that does help a great deal.
Rock Hill is a very young team but very talented as well...the starters are 2 seniors, 1 junior, and 2 sophomores.
They'll get better as the year goes on.

I agree with Borders... Wasn't there, but heard Chesapeake showed no one/nothing. smart move imo. South Point man-handled Coal grove. Rock Hill beat Fairland, while both teams showed nothing.... Sorry to be the one to point it out...but Previews are pointless, imo. Other than seeing RV's new facilities(which were VERY nice), this was a waste of gas. >.<

Sp looks very good this year...they have some good perimeter shooters, a few big post players and they are way faster and in better shape than anyone thinks...they also beat boyd county by 33 points today

Peake was dominant in an 8 team scrimmage @ Jackson drilling Zane Trace and many others.

Peake...despite their new assistant coach look like a great team for D3 SE.

and theyre defense is waaaaayyy too good for the peake to beat them by 30+...they will have a hard time beating them by 2 let alone by 30 or more

I've noticed that Peake's Coach B. Davis brings some Persin traits to the table:

1.) He insists his players be IN CONDITION. that wins a lotta games.

2.) He emphasizes TEAM PLAY, but still allows a player with a hot hand to keep shooting.

3.) Defense, Defense, DEFENSE. D was very important to Persin & SP's Norris. trapping & corner-hooking opponents is taught.

4.) Free throw shooting and making layups from all angles are practiced extensively. We all know just how important those two skills are.

5.) Hustle, Hustle, HUSTLE!

6.) MENTAL ATTITUDE. Davis instills a winning attitude in his players. They take the court expecting to win, willing to do whatever it takes to win.

Talent plus coaching = WINNER!

I look for SP to be better when the eneligible players and those on injured reserve come back. Don't know if we can handle the Peake but we will be near the top of the league. Good Luck to all the OVC teams!

I say u still cant count cg out! from what Ive heard they didnt even run any plays! the teams never show what they have in the previews! They are a waste! the ovc should be a battle this year! thats what makes it interesting!

I was at the previews as well. Big disappointment. They should just skip them altogether. South Point will be a good team when they get all their players back. January is a long time from now though. The Peake didnt show their hand. For about 2 minutes they had what could be the starting 5 out there and showed flashes of brilliance but it was against RIVER Valley! Dragons and Redmen will set new school records for turnovers if they play that way. lol. I say in the conference games, Peake goes undefeated, River Valley goes winless...and its a toss up with the other teams but my guess is SP finishes second. And I did hear the Peake was amazing in Jackson Saturday. They beat Jackson (much larger school), North Adams, Fairview, Zane Trace, they killed Clay, and Fairfield. They were 20 minutes games with a running clock with no time between games. Amazing the kids didnt pass out!
