Re: Chesapeake vs. Portsmouth - Regional Final - 3-19
I don't think you gonna see Peake blow a big lead like the last game. First I don't think they will see such a big lead and second, if they do, I don't think Coach Davis and the Panthers will take the foot off the throttle this time. I think he will stay aggressive. I believe they both learned a lot in that game. Probably more than all other games this season. I like that they got tested in that game. I think they will be well prepared and I look for a very well played game by Peake. The Trojans are dangerous and CAN win this game, but I think from top to bottom Peake is a better team and has what it takes to win this game. I just wish I could be there this weekend to see it. Good luck to both teams!

I just emailed the Herd on his radio show. He will not be at the Convo this weekend. He did not answer if anyone else from ESPN will be there, but Colin Cowherd will not be.Wholly_Shnikeys wrote:That must have been what all the buzz was about last night in the hospitality room... I had heard about a week ago that on the DIII regional final night there was suppose to be some sort of recognition for the announcer at the convo (I don't know his name, but he's great). Evidentially the convo is known as the best tournament site/atmosphere in the state. Maybe since it is known as the best place to watch OHSAA district/regional basketball games that explains why ESPN would make it's first stop on this documentary tour at the Convocation Center. This sounds pretty legitimate considering ESPN was supposed to do something like this some years ago, but it ultimately fell through.Jolly P(irate) wrote:I was talking to one of the Event Coordinators (James) last night at the game, and he said they were getting prepared for a ESPN2 video spot on "Ohio Basketball Tradition". Filming would start on the night of the DIII Regional Finals at the Convo. A match-up between Chesapeake and Portsmouth would be a great one to use. Seemed like a reliable source? Anyone else heard about this???

i dont think he would have made up a 29 point lossK-BERG88 wrote:the reason you beat burg by that much is Stegman got a techncal foul in the first half and did not play the rest of the game. Not saying burg would have won but the game would have been a little closer.BuckeyeBoy23 wrote:I dont think they should stay home but Peake is the better ball club. Yes Ptown is good but i just dont see them beating the peake. They had the easier road to the regional finals Peake played Piketon and Garaway. Portsmouth had to play fairland which chesapeake beat by 41(x2) and they beat wheelersburg by 29. burg has improved alot i must say they really shocked me. But they arent the cliber team that either piketon or garaway are yes it is tournament time but when i watched them play fairland that was the worst i have seen fairland play all year long and only lost by 20

Did some research, ESPN MediaZone stated that Jeremy Schaap will be the reporter on site Saturday night at the Convo. He's not one of the BIG corespondents, but hey, at least it's ESPN.Out of Bounds wrote:I just emailed the Herd on his radio show. He will not be at the Convo this weekend. I think the old Forest Park is part of the Winton Woods school district in northern Cincy now if I'm not mistaken. That Briggs team also beat Hamilton Township (Gary Trent - OU) in 1991 in the regional when I lived in the township. Waverly is still about the same size but Bellaire, Steubenville and Portsmouth of the teams mentioned above have lost a lot of population over the years. What year was Portsmouth's other state title trojandave ?trojandave wrote:This will be Portsmouth's 9th Elite 8 appearance since the OHSAA went to a regional format starting in the early 1940's. Re: Chesapeake vs. Portsmouth - Regional Final - 3-19
they didnt blow a 20 point lead garaway is very talented they knew they were gonna lose if they didnt step up and they settled down and played like they knew they could. your also insane to believe that portsmouth is a better team then both of them considering they almost lost in sectionals to an ovc team and no one gave the ovc any credit for that. you people are over exagerating portsmouths ability they are good but lets be realistic now please it will be a nail bitter the whole game give the peake their credit they deserver for making it this far back 2back that takes talent! As well to portsmouth good jobptowntrojan_61 wrote:Not making any predictions but there is no way you can blow a 20+ point lead to Garaway and still think you can beat Portsmouth just sayin you forget Portsmouth has just as much talent if more then any school around here
Re: Chesapeake vs. Portsmouth - Regional Final - 3-19
One good thing about this game. One of Gallia Academy's 2010-11 opponents will be going to this year's state tourney.
Peake beat GAHS 77-22 in Panthers' season opener. Portsmouth beat GAHS 49-44 and 69-31 in a pair of SEOAL battles.

I know Peake is a different team than Burg but we heard the same song and dance from Burg before the game Wednesday. :122248OvCman wrote:Once hintz and thompson get up in their face this will be a shutdown. Peake by 15

Re: Chesapeake vs. Portsmouth - Regional Final - 3-19
Panthers vs. Trojans
Both teams played 5 common opponents ( Gallia Academy, Fairland, South Point, Wheelersburg and Ironton). Portsmouth played South Point, Wheelersburg, Gallia 2 times each and Ironton and Fairland one time each. Chesapeake played South Point, Ironton, Fairland 2 times each and Wheelersburg and Gallia one time each. Now this was the closest to logical way i could predict a winner. Portsmouth was 8-0 in these games winning by a combined total of 124points which means they won by 15.5ppg. Cheapeake was also 8-0 winning by a combined total of 245points which means they won by 30.6ppg. Now if you take the point totals and subtract 124 from 245 you get 121 now divide that number by those 8 common games and you get 15.1. So my prediction is....
Chesapeake 77
Portsmouth 62

Re: Chesapeake vs. Portsmouth - Regional Final - 3-19
... should be a great game with 2 TEAMS that know what is on the line in this one - a trip to the show! the Elite 8 Numbers 1 and 2 playing for a trip to C'bus - doesn't get any better than that folks ... pfloyd will make the Saturday trek down Rt. 33 for all of the action - had a set back mid week health wise - couldn't make the games BUT we're ready for the weekend ... best of luck to both of these fine TEAMS ...
Re: Chesapeake vs. Portsmouth - Regional Final - 3-19
pfloyd hope to see you sat but, I wont be in the cheap seats I like to sit a little closer to the action.
