What are some other names other than Walsh? Don't give me Blaine and Doug. They would be crazy to leave where they are. McNeil?

Either you have confidence in your coach or not ... What does this tell the players? "We are trying to find a coach, maybe?"
"But if we don't, things will be ok"....
This is unbelievable....

Re: FUTURE OF LOGAN BASKETBALL
… I thought that the posting on the OHSAA site was a misprint - thought it was for the GIRLS varsity position BUT -NO … the girls varsity position was posted March 3rd … I asked Coach Helber for next season's schedule Wednesday morning too - he didn't let on as if he KNEW "his" position was posted - told me he knew the teams just not the dates yet …
Re: FUTURE OF LOGAN BASKETBALL
I was thinking the same thing Floyd after I went to bed last night thinkng maybe they mistaken it for the girls job.I know one thing if i was Helber and this is true, I would Johnny Paycheck them, tell them to take that job and shove it!
Re: FUTURE OF LOGAN BASKETBALL
Anyways, I'm going to propose a thought: Logan is a tough place to coach. I always thought they have had some parents that would try to run out someone like John Wooden if they had the chance to. I too hear of how some of the better athletes don't even play. They definitely can't compete in D1 Central. The other thing I think has hurt Logan is being in that league of theirs, and I think it has hurt them especially when it comes to landing a coach. I know several guys who have thought about putting in for that gig, but when they consider the conference games, they decide against applying because they recognize with some of these games you won't come back to Logan until 11pm and if you live outside of Hocking County that's an even longer time until you get home. Of course, I'm talking about guys that live in Lancaster, Canal etc but the idea a very flexible schedule is needed stands. If Logan ever gets in the MSL then that travel factor isn't as big.

Yes, McNeil used to be at Berne and Athens.
This whole situation is NUTS. How can you tell a coach you are going to give him one more year, then call him in the office later and tell him that they are going to post his job.......just because they posted the girls and if no one applies you can keep the job.........What a joke!!!

Re: FUTURE OF LOGAN BASKETBALL
I wonder what's being said if a potential candidate calls and asks why the old coach was let go??
Re: FUTURE OF LOGAN BASKETBALL
Sitting around here and there in Logan I have heard a lot of table talk about the Logan team. I would say most of the negative has been...............Logan had good players but the coach didn't know how to use them.
Re: FUTURE OF LOGAN BASKETBALL
Most of the negative comments are from parents who cant see past their noses that their little Jonny just isn't that good. I have also heard this stuff about HEY I coached them when they were 6th grade and we were undefeated now look at them as varsity their below .500. Maybe if these same critics would open their eyes THERE is a BIG difference between 6 grade and H/S. Mostly being they are not playing a inner county schedule with their hand picked teams. And this stuff about coaches not using them correctly I have yet to see 1 coach who didn't put his best team on the floor. BECAUSE HE WANTED TO HAVE A LOSSING SEASON. These guys all know their jobs are on the line every year if they don't produce wins. And sometimes producing wins with no talent or under talented teams is hard to do. Until the higher ups get behind a coach and stop letting Mom and Grandma, aunt Lucy and Dad run the program nothing will change. Hey guru, have you heard anything else about this situation? I talked to one of the current players and according to him they have gotten no word from the school that John is not coming back.
