Waverly holiday classic (Who you picking?)
Re: Waverly holiday classic (Who you picking?)
Honestly not sure but I highly doubt it dont think he scored at all in a game or 2 and some low totals other times.

Re: Waverly holiday classic (Who you picking?)
This is a must win for the Eagles! With a very down SOC 1 this year the Eagles need to have some big non conference wins for the drawings since they are Div. 3 this year. Wins over Clay, Notre Dame and Symmes Valley just isn't going to cut if they are wanting to get a good seed.
Re: Waverly holiday classic (Who you picking?)
Nah, other than the PV game he's had some low totals. Still finding his way in the offense. I'd have to say he's only averaging 3-4 shot attempts per game. I'd like to think both those totals will come up by mid season

May be a pipe dream but I think these top 4 guys could all be averaging close to double digits by end of seasondanicalifornia wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 9:08 pmPerdue - 27.7

Thanks...I haven’t seen any scoring total except from TP but the one game I did see Little go for 17danicalifornia wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 9:08 pmPerdue - 27.7

Yep and all those but 2 were first half points. I don't think that's an anomaly like Ronm. We'll see more nights like that the more comfortable he gets. He's ran point and controlled the ball most of his life and now he's on the wing so he's adjustingIronman92 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 9:59 pmThanks...I haven’t seen any scoring total except from TP but the one game I did see Little go for 17danicalifornia wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 9:08 pmPerdue - 27.7

Danic, u have the averages for every player on every team in SE Ohio? Asking for a friend
Re: Waverly holiday classic (Who you picking?)
I hope you are correct but they are gonna have to make drastic changes and improvements for that to happen. Usually when your eyes tell you and the form and spin on the ball show you they arent shooters it doesn't doesn't change mid season. even several of the 3s made tgis year especially against PV were tipped and changed the shot and it went in.mlittle wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 9:51 pmMay be a pipe dream but I think these top 4 guys could all be averaging close to double digits by end of seasondanicalifornia wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 9:08 pmPerdue - 27.7

Piketon had several 3’s against PV that were tipped and went in? Seems odd.ronm001 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 10:12 pmI hope you are correct but they are gonna have to make drastic changes and improvements for that to happen. Guessing Waverly wins this thing.
Eastern the sleeper team.
Eastern the sleeper team.
Re: Waverly holiday classic (Who you picking?)
I can't even argue with that. Most of the threes that were made were tipped and went in. U must have a kid or relative on piketon's bench that doesn't play muchronm001 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 10:12 pmI hope you are correct but they are gonna have to make drastic changes and improvements for that to happen. Re: Waverly holiday classic (Who you picking?)
western would be the only real surprise for me in this one. Any of the other 3 could win it.

Re: Waverly holiday classic (Who you picking?)
I agree Eastern isn’t getting much talk about their chances of winning. But on paper, Piketon and Waverly are clearly the better teams.
If we want to be honest Waverly should win the Classic every year. They are the biggest school in the county, as well as have the most resources AND they play on their home court.
But this year, I will take Piketon in the upset. I just think with Perdue transferring to Piketon that makes the difference.

Re: Waverly holiday classic (Who you picking?)
One of the funniest things I've read on here in a while. Does ohsaa keep that as a stat? If so Piketon may have the state record for the most 3's that were blocked into the basket.Ironman92 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 10:17 pmPiketon had several 3’s against PV that were tipped and went in? Re: Waverly holiday classic (Who you picking?)
I watched Little go 4-5 in the first half
Purdue 2-2 and Veach 1-1 or 1-2 and I didn't see a single shot get tippped or blocked or the ball change direction from the time it left the shooters hand one time. Maybe u just had a better angle than me.
I'll agree that our perimeter shooting isn't the greatest and a couple of our shooters don't have perfect rotation on the ball or picture perfect form on the release but how many high schools in any area do? You pay $5 to get into the game not $500. This isn't Duke Vs Carolina it's high school basketball.

If Piketon wins the Classic this year it won't be an upset. They're the only "elite 8" team in the tournament and plenty of people on here are picking them to win both games. Waverly is quite a bit behind Piketon in the rankings.
As far as Waverly should win the Classic every year....that statement doesn't any sense. We'll only taking about 5 to maybe 7 or 8 kids making an impact in basketball. Enrollment numbers would makes some difference in football but not nearly as much in basketball. All four teams are from Pike County so demographics are close to the same. I'll bet nearly all these kids have played on Waverly's court numerous times and crowd size will be near equal for most schools. I don't see resources being any factor in who wins. All four teams have won this tournament which is a major reason so many people look forward to it and why so many fans come to watch.
