Re: Southeastern Ohio District D4 Basketball
I agree wellston has a better gym, the atmosphere at meigs was electric. I didn't like the parking situation though. I would like to thank meigs for hosting and I hope wellston fits the bill for the D4 PLAYERS AND FANS.bbjunky81 wrote: Mon Dec 23, 2019 2:43 pm Wellston is also a MUCH better host than Meigs. No offense to Meigs, but Wellston actually has a top notch gymnasium that should have been used for tournaments many years ago. TONS of seating. Excellent facility.

Glenwood still the team to beat but Peebles and Crooksville will be tough outs

New Boston and Peebles are the teams to beat but Trimble/Crooksville could upset them....others like Symmes Valley, Fairfield, South Gallia and Fed Hock could knock them offmattash wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 10:02 pm Glenwood still the team to beat but Peebles and Crooksville will be tough outs

Peebles maybe. I’m not sold on New Boston yet.TigersNation wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 10:17 pmLol, Peebles and New Boston are favor in any of those games.Ironman92 wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 10:10 pmNew Boston and Peebles are the teams to beat but Trimble/Crooksville could upset them....others like Symmes Valley, Fairfield, South Gallia and Fed Hock could knock them offmattash wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 10:02 pm Glenwood still the team to beat but Peebles and Crooksville will be tough outs

Peebles has a pretty tough schedule the rest of the way. Trimble,Federal Hocking,Chesapeake,Miami Trace, Ripley, Fairfield, Whiteoak, West Union all ,but one away which is D2 Miami Trace. It will be very hard for the Indians to escape without a few more losses. They will be ready for tournament come March madness though. I believe we will end up in the top 25 of Pfloyds elite eight rankings at year's end.

Mattash, Peebles has one loss away against North Adams and the one overtime loss at home to Eastern Brown.

Challenging schedule for D4. Peake game will be great I think. @MT is tough, poor shooting backgrounds and they always have 2 of their 6’5, 6’6 or 6’7 guys on the court and in the lane....no layups and tough lane shots to go with bad shooting background. Peebles has great guards and might win by 20, but they are an interesting matchup.Hoopie74 wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2020 1:25 am Peebles has a pretty tough schedule the rest of the way. Just looked at the schedule again. This boys game will be a home game. Girls contest is an away game. Regardless it will be a great game to get ready for tournament.Ironman92 wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2020 10:50 amChallenging schedule for D4. Coach is trying to figure out exactly how to use Mills. He is the wildcard. At 6'6" or so and still growing ,he has always been a guard. He is just learning to play post and play defense in the paint. As soon as Mills learns his new position he could be a stud. He also has to learn how to use his new body. He is just learning that he's taller than most other kids.haha! He has had times where he steps out and gets hot hitting 5 to 6 threes. Very streaky. Other times he goes inside and attacks the rim. I'm waiting for him to learn that he can receive in the paint and rise up and slam it. He has to learn his role. I believe it's inside out next year. Especially if he grows another couple of inches.Hoopie74 wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2020 10:53 amJust looked at the schedule again. This boys game will be a home game. Girls contest is an away game. Valley seems to be settling in somewhere between the 3-5 range in division 4. After starting 0-3 with losses to Adena, Chesapeake, and Piketon they have won 7 of 8, with only a loss to Wheelersburg mixed in. They are undefeated against division 4 competition and have steadily gotten better. They're still a middle tier team in SOC 2, but they match up well with the division 4 squads. They have a big week coming up with Minford, Oak Hill, and Waverly but they'll be a tough out in the division 4 tournament.
Re: D4 2019-20 Basketball
Well Peebles plays FH and Trimble so we will see. New Boston is undisciplined at times so I wouldn’t be shocked if someone knocks them off. Trimble and FH will hold their own against them I believeTigersNation wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 10:17 pmLol, Peebles and New Boston are favor in any of those games.Ironman92 wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 10:10 pmNew Boston and Peebles are the teams to beat but Trimble/Crooksville could upset them....others like Symmes Valley, Fairfield, South Gallia and Fed Hock could knock them offmattash wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 10:02 pm Glenwood still the team to beat but Peebles and Crooksville will be tough outs

I’m pretty sure that qualifies as most of the D4 teams. I was pretty clear in saying they’re not at the top of the SOC, but they’re undefeated against D4 teams. I look at that list of D4 teams and outside of NB and Peebles, I don’t see a ton of strength. They’ve been playing well against their division, and I stand by the comment that they’ll be a tough match up in tournament. Doesn’t mean I think they’re going to state.
