Both are good players but I agree with him. Trey Kelley is a matchup nightmare with his size.

I feel as if the Indians should have no problem bringing home the gold ball if they prevent any slip ups throughout the conference schedule, and limit Minford's perimeter opportunities in that matchup. I'll take the Indians in a sweep of the SOC 2.

I hate to bust your bubble buddy but there is absolutely no way Valley sweeps the SOC 2 this year! You apparently haven't been to a Minford game because the 3 Senior's that are leading this team have one thing on their mind and that's to win their 3rd SOC Title in 4 years.
The Waverly game was the first game of the year where the boys work their nerves out because this is their last year. Kelley was on fire. Lighting the nets up. When he's hitting he's hitting. Alley continues to improve on the inside, playing stronger. The only problem I see with him is when he decides to bring the ball down the court, he is in no way a PG and needs to stay down low as should Kelley because they are the height of this team. Now Rowe, that kid is a beast! Is there anything he can't do? His ball handling skills against both Waverly and North Adams were exceptional. During most of the Waverly game they pressed and double teamed Rowe with no one setting screens to help open up for him to score. He continued to get the ball down the court and he never got excited or nervous and played his game. At North Adams their PG was all over him and not once did he turnover the ball or lose composure. It's very apparent that he's unselfish because he gave up lots of shots to his teammates. This kid is a class act. If he continues his level of play all year there is no way he's not POY in the SOC 2 this year.
I personally think this team looked really good at North Adams. They actually worked the ball for shots and looked really good. It's a shame Shepherd isn't playing but word has it that he may possibly be back in a few weeks. If he gets to come back I really think this team will go farther in tournaments then they have in the last 4 years. With all three of these Seniors playing strong and together and if Shepherd returns this team will be hard to beat!

If you haven't been to any Valley games, you won't see many guards in the area that are as athletic, lockdown defenders as Blake Howard. If there is anyone in this conference that can keep Rowe in check, it is him. Kelley is notorious for becoming visibly frustrated with the length & speed of Rolfe throughout the past few years. Just look back to the last SOC game last year, both teams graduated one player from last year. If Valley rebounds & doesn't give up second chance opportunities, they win both matchups with Minford, and I personally believe these two are the obvious frontrunners in this conference.

Minford is the favorite, but I like how Valley is playing early. Valley will have a chance to win every game they play in. They will not sweep the SOCII, however.

I agree that with Minford being the defending champs, they have to be the favorites. But, I believe Valley is better than most give credit for. The Indians have an abundance of scoring options, and play very physical D. It'll be two fun matchups between the two for sure.

bballer4life I have to disagree with you on the Waverly game. I believe the Henderson kid from Waverly pretty much held Rowe in check when he guarded him. He stole the ball twice from him, blocked a three point shot and held his scoring down. Now Rowe is a very good player but also give credit where it is due. There's no doubt also that Kelley was on fire but I believe if Waverly is hitting there shots, this is a different ball game. The halftime score was 25-24 Waverly and they just couldn't knock them down in the second half. You say this was Minford's first game so they were working the nerves out. Well, this was also Waverly's first game so maybe they were also working the nerves out....

Any thoughts on SOC 2 play thus far? I still stand with my prediction. I know you can't necessarily base anything on scores but Valley manhandled Wheelersburg by 20+ points & Minford pulled out a 3 point win in their matchup with Burg. Bryan Rolfe has been unstoppable as of late, watch out SEO

Wow! This is the first time I have heard Perry's name attached to basketball since his interview with Snuffy after last seasons thrashing of Burg at home. Perry's name is usually associated with the soccer program, the kid has skills. I guess Minford must have him listed as secret weapon or something.   Rowe, Kelley and Alley are definitely on a mission this year.

Don't you have better things to do than bashing high school athletes anonomously? Stick to the thread. That goes to many others above too.

Minford loses by 21 to a Trimble team that was beaten by the Indians in the Wendy's Classic. Pretty good measuring stick in comparing these two teams as the Tomcats are a solid team.

valley and minford still the front runners in the soc2 I still like valley but they will have to play good ball to get past minford and stay on top. soc1 east is the top team with eastern and Notre dame sitting right behind them after they beat clay I still like my eagles to take the soc1 still got 2 games with notre dame and home games with east and clay. eagles keep playing good ball I think they come out on top. both soc divisions got good race going on for that top spot with a lot of good basketball to go. GO EAGLES.

East controls their own Destiny in SOC 1...Valley Should win SOC 2, I believe EASTERN will lose once to ND and Clay will win second matchup giving them 3 loses in SOC 1 I also feel east will lose at least 1 game oit of the 3 left between ND,Clay and Eastern.all 4 Teams will be Scary come tournament time.

As every Burg and Valley fan says during football season....

"You can't compare scores with opponents"!

I agree Bleeding Red. As I've witnessed the last several years, the Minford/Valley games have been nail biters! Hoping my Falcons can pull out a victory Friday night! GO FALCONS!

It's true you can't compare scores but it gives you an idea of how teams are playing....

Pretty sure this is accurate for the SOC II

1. Valley 10-0 5-0
1. Minford 9-2 5-0
3. Waverly 6-4 3-2
3. Burg 5-3 3-2
3. Oak Hill 7-5 3-2
6. West 3-7 1-4
7. Webster 4-6 0-5
7. Northwest 1-10 0-5

I've seen just about every SOC 1 and 2 school.. Valley plays good ball..Rolfe,Brewer and the Wolford boy are a triple threat no one wants to gaurd but if Rowe, Kelley and Perry start firing we could see another gold ball in the falcon trophy case.. Long story short keep wolford from scoring if you're minford and if youre valley keep your eyes on perry

Minford has been without one of their better players in Shepard. I heard he was supposed to be back this month. Does anyone know his status.

That's an awful evaluation of each team. Rolfe, Howard, and that linne kid are the play makers for Valley. Romanello can be a factor unless you foul him then you're in for a couple airballs. Rowe and Kelley are without a doubt two of the better players for minford. Lock down Kelley and force rowe to drive.
