In the spirit of trying to make a game or two, can someone email me their scrimmage schedule if possible. I could use the girls' also.

Burg should be about 8-9 deep this year. McBee and Massie will probably not be on the varisty, but the JV team this year. The good thing with having those two is that if an injury occurs to a guard on the varsity, you have the luxury of pulling one of them up on the varsity and possibly not losing much at that position.

There is a slight chance that one of them might start out on varsity. All depends on how long it takes Schanks shoulder to heal. Just have to hope that last night he didn't do more damage to it, plus Bendolph stopped playing because of an ankle injury, so he is an injury risk.

Burg should be very good and should be fun to watch.

Will the Pirate’s basketball team be effected by any injuries from football season? I know Bendolph and Shank both have injuries. Not trying to insinuate anything just curious on the timeline for their recovery if they are out. I know my Trojans play the Burg early and I was wondering what line up we could expect to see by then. Best of luck this year to the Pirates should be another good year in the Burg.

The Pirates will be fine. I am praying for complete healing for those injured.

Potential returning starters that I think are uninjured or only mildly banged up from football:
Tyler Lang, Andy Stegman, Shane Ward, Cole Miller and Nick Kemper. Add to them the others on last years varsity roster: Zaide Whitley, Andy Sloan, Coley Warner and Isaac Duduit.

None of the JV players from last year are injured and some should move up. One freshman football had a surgical knee injury but I don't know if he plays basketball.

There are a couple that might miss the early part of the season, but with five returning starters (assuming they all make the roster), the Pirates should be OK--IMHO.

Not sure if Craigmiles will be playing, with the hammy pull and all. Tyler is a decent three point shooter, streaky, but not real sure he makes the squad this year. He was hardly on the floor the last few games of the year.

Has Burg made cuts yet or they still have a little bit longer?

Waverly scrimmaged Hillsboro Saturday. From what I hear Waverly did pretty well. Let us know how the Burg looks against them.

Eaglesnest wrote Massie and the McBee boy are talented but will not see any varsity time. The guard positions are a lock for the next 2 years. Bendolph, Whitley, and company are simply better now.It is a shame, but likely neither will start varsity til they are seniors. Again, not a knock on either of them. Heck, McBee would be starting for Minford this year I bet.....but not at the Burg now

Are you sure about that I heard Whitley wasnt playing this year.

Try outs are over and the roster will out soon. Then those questions will be answered.
