Re: Southeast District D4 Rankings 1-4-11
I agree that Clay is one of the most talented teams in D4 and they appear to be gaining confidence and finishing games lately. Very easily could be 6-2 if they knew how to finish games early this year. They will no doubt move up this week and with a win over a solid Green team on Friday they would be challenging the top 5 teams in the rankings.rockyraccoon wrote:Portsmouth Clay at #10 has dispatched #9 SV by 10 and #5 Eastern by 13. A win Friday over Green should put them in the top 5, with all their losses being close to D3 teams.
Clay
1. NWest 48-40 L
2. Minford 31-29 L
3. New Bost 73-72 W
4. Rock Hill 53-52 L
5. St. Jo 67-64 W
6. Valley 68-57 L
7. Symmes 61-51 W
8. E. Pike 75-62 W
The 1 point win over New Boston doesnt look good when other teams in the top 10 have rolled them by 35&34 (Whiteoak,E.Pike).
The last 3 games are impressive. By the way, on the radio I heard the Clay/Eastern score was 73-62, which score is correct?

Re: Southeast District D4 Rankings 1-4-11
The final was 75 - 62. The New Boston game is the anomally. They were up about 10 points or more in the last half of the fourth, but NB was hitting most of their shots and 3 consecutive bad calls (imo), 2 charges and awarding NB the ball on a bad OOB call kept them in the game. NB also hit an uncontested three at the buzzer to pull it to one point. Clay won't blow many teams out, because as soon as they get a 10 point lead the coach goes into a stall, which always backfires on them. The last few games he has gotten away from that and let them run.
Plus, no matter what New Bostons record is, they are always dangerous in the "cracker box gym".
