1st place in the Ohio plays 1st place in the Hocking.
2nd plays 2nd
and so on ...
Up until I believe 2000 (give or take a year) the TVC had a mandatory three game rotating crossover rule and those crossover games counted as conference games even though both divisions crowned a separate champion.

Classic Eastern guy pretending to be from southern to stir stuff up. you need some new lines and give up on something that is over 30 years ago. Get a life
I love how Southern people accuse some of their posters of being from Eastern and vice versa. Aren't you all dependents of the Hill family down there anyway?

93Bulldog wrote: Sun Jan 09, 2022 9:50 am With the 2022 portion of the boys basketball season underway, things have become very, very interesting in both the TVC-Ohio and TVC-Hocking divisions. Alexander junior Kyler D’Augustino scored a game high 29 points Friday to lead the Spartans to a huge 52-50 win over Vinton County to take over sole possession of first place in the Ohio Division. Alexander improved to 6-7 overall but 4-1 in league play and now owns a ½ game lead over Vinton County and Meigs, who the Spartans also beat back on Dec. 17th. Due to a covid outbreak, the Marauders had to put their season on hold, but will be back on the court this Tuesday for a very important make-up game with the Vikings.

It was almost a forgone conclusion the Trimble Tomcats would just sail through the TVC-Hocking unscathed, but as we hit the midway point of the season, Athens County rival Federal Hocking is hanging right with the ‘Cats. Lancers sophomore point guard Tariq Cottrill drained a school record 10 three pointers Saturday and scored a game high 31 points to lead Fed Hock past Athens 70-53 for its 4th straight win. They knocked off Eastern the night before and will take a (9-3) overall record and perfect (5-0) mark in the Hocking Division into a long awaited showdown versus Trimble at William White Gymnasium on Friday. Because of a postponed game versus Chesapeake, Trimble hasn’t played since its 82-70 win at Southern on Tuesday and will be looking at a 10-day layoff before its clash with the Lancers. The Tomcats are still a perfect 10-0 on the season, including a 5-0 league mark.

Quick hits: As we now have a better observation of all the teams, one thing that has stood out this year is the quality of basketball the small schools (TVC-Hocking) have been playing versus the big schools (TVC-Ohio). Normally, the Ohio Division has the upper hand, but not in 2021/2022. The Hocking has clearly been more dominate, especially in the head to head match-ups. The top three teams in the Hocking Division are a combined (27-6). The top three teams in the Ohio are (20-15). But what about head-to-head when looking at the top teams?

Federal Hocking 78, Alexander 51 (+27)
Trimble 71, Nelsonville-York 31 (+40)
Waterford 84. Alexander 55 (+29)
Trimble 66, Meigs 51 (+15)
Federal Hocking 70, Athens 52 (+18)

Not only are the top three teams a perfect (5-0) versus the Ohio, they are outscoring their big school counterparts by an average of 25.8 points per game. That is an eye-popping stat.

Games to watch upcoming: its rivalry week as Alexander travels to Athens on Friday, Federal Hocking invades Glouster and also on Friday it is the Vinton County Vikings playing host to Wellston.

STANDINGS

Alexander (6-7),(4-1)
Vinton County (7-4),(3-1)
Meigs (7-4),(3-1)
Wellston (5-5),(2-2)
River Valley (2-8),(1-3)
Athens (2-8),(1-3)
Nelsonville-York (3-7),(1-4)

Trimble (10-0),(5-0)
Federal Hocking (9-3),(5-0)
Waterford (8-3),(4-2)
South Gallia (4-4),(2-3)
Belpre (4-8),(2-3)
Southern (4-9),(0-5)
Eastern (0-12),(0-5)
Cottrill nor anyone else will even get 10 threes off against a Howie led Trimble team unless he shoots before he reaches half court. With 10 days off the Cats will be well rested and ready to run them out of WWG on Friday.

VC now has no room for error- They have to win the rest out. Always hard to win at the ALLEY.

You got that right. You gotta be way better than them to beat them there. And if they have a premier player you might as well just let them shoot, drive or whatever because if you even try to defense them the whistles will be worn out with foul calls by half time. Sad, but it is what it is.

Tough to win at Rock Springs and Meigs is a pretty good team. Tuesday is a huge game for both teams.

Well, if the refs don't call it that way Skinny chases them off the floor and screams at them that they will "never work here again." So, what do you expect? :o

I wish are coach would call ya cause we ain't bin gettin enough out of them refs he uses. Racine shouldn't ever lose a game at home. That's how it was back when we almost won the whole dang state.

Covid and weather wreaked havoc on last week’s boys basketball schedules as numerous games had to be cancelled or postponed, including a big TVC-Hocking clash between Trimble and Federal Hocking. Another important match-up between Vinton County and Meigs has been postponed not once, but twice now. One big game did take place on The Pains however as the Athens defense stifled visiting Alexander Friday to power the ‘Dogs passed the first place Spartans 48-39. The loss dropped Alex to 2nd while both VC and Meigs moved back into first with identical 3-1 records in the Ohio Division. The Tomcats and Lancers still pace the Hocking Division and remain undefeated in conference play.

Vinton County (7-4),(3-1)
Meigs (7-4),(3-1)
Alexander (7-8),(4-2)
Wellston (6-5),(2-2)
Athens (3-9),(2-3)
River Valley (2-8),(1-3)
Nelsonville-York (5-7),(1-4)

Trimble (10-0),(5-0)
Federal Hocking (9-3),(5-0)
Waterford (9-3),(4-2)
South Gallia (6-4),(3-3)
Belpre (4-9),(2-4)
Eastern (1-12),(1-5)
Southern (4-11),(0-6)

Everyone in the Ohio division has at least one win and one loss and 6 out of the 7 schools haven’t even gotten to the halfway point in the season. With the way Athens is playing, I would say 5 out of 7 schools still have a shot at the title. I’ve never seen this kind of parity before. It’s kind of fun to watch knowing that anyone can get beat on any night, by anyone!

Kind of a ho-hum week for boys basketball with weather related cancellations and no marquee match-ups taking place. Vinton County and Meigs continue to lead a very balanced TVC-Ohio, but things heat up this week as the Vikings take on the Marauders Tuesday with first place on the line. Vinton County (8-5),(4-1) also plays at Athens Friday before facing rival Wellston on Saturday night. Trimble and Federal Hocking remain unbeaten in the TVC-Hocking and have yet to play. They will have two games against each other down the stretch. The Tomcats have to travel to Waterford Tuesday, which is never an easy place to play. Fed Hock has Belpre Tuesday before taking on 4th place South Gallia on Friday.

Vinton County (8-5),(4-1)
Meigs (8-4),(4-1)
Alexander (8-8),(5-2)
Wellston (6-6),(2-3)
Athens (3-10),(2-3)
River Valley (2-10),(1-4)
Nelsonville-York (5-9),(1-5)

Trimble (11-0),(6-0)
Federal Hocking (11-3),(6-0)
Waterford (11-3),(5-2)
South Gallia (6-4),(3-3)
Belpre (4-11),(2-5)
Eastern (1-14),(1-6)
Southern (4-12),(0-7)

Trimble is already down by 10 at Waterford. By tomorrow that number could go up. But I think the Tomcats still win by double digits. We're on a roll now and don't seen anyone slowing us down. Go Tomcats!
