... I haven't seen them yet spfan101 ... South Point even during the regular season is tough to get information about it seems - in the past we haven't had many or any posters who actually post information ... SP always has good athletes ... the downside of not having information about SP is that I can't do a fair and balanced ranking ... hopefully we get some posters getting information out on the website during the season so we are informed about the athletes & team for the Pointers - names of players, heights/ game stats etc would be great so we can promote and give props to the team and player recognition ... I hope to be back in town from Thanksgiving on Friday 11/29 so I can get over to Zane Trace to see South Point taking on Bishop Ready in the Zane Trace Tip-off Classic @ 5p...

Whiteoak 17

Ripley 20
West Union 18
I watched those preview games … the SHAC does a great job with their preseason show … North Adams and Fairfield are for real - I have Fairfield Leesburg too low in my preseason rankings - adjustments will be made in the first couple weeks for sure … the SHAC will be solid this season …

SHACFan, after watching the SHAC Preview last night - I concur with your early observation - Eastern Brown, North Adams & Fairfield Leesburg show separation from the rest of the league ... the league has a lot of parity ... overall the SHAC is going to be very competitive this season as you pointed out- well done SHACFan, thanks for your input !

I HOPE a team from the Southeast district, ANY division gets to Dayton to play in the Show ... when Waverly made it to Dayton I was fortunate enough to be on Press Row - representing SEOPs - it was a great experience - I would LOVE to do it again with the opportunity to do Pfloyd Napkin Stats courtside again ...Warren, New Lexington, Minford, Meigs, South Webster, a team from the SHAC - Eastern Brown, Fairfield Leesburg, North Adams - any of them - I'LL TAKE IT ... :D

Better chance to get there then of the past, with 2 of the 3 district winners in D5 facing off with 2 teams from the East as opposed to the Central

However, Lutheran East and Harvest Prep are in D5, raising the level of difficulty by a good bit.

BUT, you also predicted the same thing in soccer and they came mighty close, so I’m on board with you.

The SOC3 could potentially have multiple teams at the state tournament once again

... have been able to see scrimmage video of quite a few teams :

Preseason Rankings

#1 ... Meigs
2 .... Warren
4..... Jackson
5 .....South Webster
6...... Minford
7...... Eastern Brown
10 .... Zane Trace
11.....Unioto
12..... North Adams
14 .... Logan Elm
19 .... Gallia Academy
21.... Waverly
22.... Western Pike
23.... Ironton
24.... Fairfield Union
25....Symmes Valley
28.... Fairfield Leesburg
31.... Fairland
32 ... Southern
35....Washington CH
38... Manchester
41.... Athens
43 ... Lucasville Valley
44.... New Boston
47 ... Peebles
52 ... Lynchburg Clay
53... Paint Valley
63 ... Whiteoak
69 ... Ripley

Others : Non-SouthEast District teams ...

West Muskingum - the Muskies took 2 out 3 10 minute qtrs vs Warren
Raceland KY
Upper Sandusky
Buckeye Trail
Point Pleasant
Fayetteville

... I've had the opportunity to watch quite a few teams from the SE district in the preseason, some teams in multiple scrimmages, so I've been able to see improvement over the 3 weeks in a number of teams ... as I've posted before, the preseason rankings are the most difficult rankings to do as it's hard to predict what teams will look like after the graduation of seniors , the chemistry when new starters break into the lineup ... one thing is a constant imo - coaching, what the head coaches bring to the table ... their philosophy, style, those things that allow the team to fit into the HC's system ... with that said, I have imo some teams too low in the rankings , teams that will move up the rankings quickly based on what I've seen in the scrimmages ...

... North Adams under new management, head coach Coach Austin McCormick ... the Green Devils although without a lot of size make up for it in quickness at both ends of the floor ... Jayce Rothwell sr. has settled in to running the point, the other pieces are able to put up points without missing a beat - Rothwell is joined by Carson Osborne, Breestin Schweickart, Konner Rogers, Conner Young, Jesse Kennedy, Carson Davis ... NA is deep off the bench, senior leadership, 3 point perimeter scoring Osborne/Rogers/Young/Schweickart/ Kennedy ... the Green Devils push the ball in transition every opportunity ... hard-nosed man to man defense is their signature throwing in a "once in awhile " 2-3 zone as a change of pace ... looks/sounds a lot like the regional finalist 2023-24 team ... they might be better than last year team ... I see them moving up the rankings - getting into the Elite 8 once again ...

... Fairfield Leesburg ... Coach Williams has proven himself one of the best coaches courtside in the SE District ... the Lions go at least 8 deep off the bench ... Griffin Friend and Caleb Berrara running the point , Logan McIntosh at 6-4 looks to have an outstanding season in the paint and beyond ... rounding out the starters Carson Davis, Brody Smith ... off the bench Chase Newman, Caleb Rice, Layne Burgess ... the Lions can score from all levels, while playing outstanding on ball pressure man to man defense ... Coach William's Lions are a top 15 team in the SE District ...

... Fairland ... Coach Speed & Co. have made me believers in the preseason ... the Dragons are better than the #31 where I placed them in the preseason rankings ... I questioned the ability to score the ball outside of Brody Buchanan ... I've watched Fairland in multiple scrimmages this preseason ... when the Dragons scored the ball, held their own vs Meigs, Minford, Jackson, Miami Trace, Westfall - Fransen/Lockow/Smith/Polcyn have come together as a solid offensive/defensive TEAM ... they should be higher in the rankings imo ...

... Lucasville Valley just had a solid scrimmage at Jackson ... watched them earlier in the preseason vs Symmes Valley ... what stood out was their quickness/speed/scrappy defense ... transition offense -finishing at the rim / depth ... I like what I see in the Indians of Coach Tackett ... a much better TEAM than I gave them credit for in the preseason rankings ...

Fairfield Union ... Coaching matters ... Coach Shaeffer/Coach Helber simply get it done - fundamentals, defense year in year out ... this season lots of varsity experience isn't there - yet ... young talent - you bet ... I feel after seeing the Falcons vs Valley & Jackson in the Saturday scrimmage I have FU a little too low in the rankings - youth is hard to gauge BUT you can see basketball skills, you can see the basketball length, you can see the receptiveness to coaching ... you can see natural talent that is being molded into a TEAM ... I like what I see in the FU ...the leader of the group is 6-4 sr. Keegan Arnett - seems to be a good fit with the youngsters - works hard in the paint at both ends ... where pfloyd was "a little off" imo , another youth laden squad that will continue to improve every time out ... they WILL take their lumps - FU starts with my #1 Meigs team to open the Falcons regular season (12/4 - pfloyd will be in the cheap seats for this one) then an ALWAYS good Bloom Carroll team in game 3 ... I see FU getting better and better as the youngsters get their feet wet at the varsity level ...

... "where pfloyd was wrong" - I'm sure there are other teams that will prove pfloyd wrong as well - these are 5 teams that stand out as too low based on the committee's observations in the preseason scrimmages ... I also have a list of teams that after watching them in the preseason appear to be TOO HIGH in the rankings (that list I'll keep within the committee discussions) ... we'll see! once the season starts TEAMS will decide on the court where they belong based on their performance - no guesswork based on what teams look like on paper ... it's go time! about 24 hours aways from the official tip off at Zane Trace with the game #1 matchup between Huntington Ross vs Amanda CC !!!
