The East district is pretty tough. Obviously the top two (Hiland and MC) have a gap before they get to #3 but Caldwell and even Malvern on the right night are pretty good. Would have been a good year for Caldwell to be in the DVII tourney. MC seems to be able to take things one game at a time and don't appear to be looking ahead when a big game is coming up. Good luck for continued success both ways.

Just an awful offensive half for Marietta. Had numerous good looks in the key and couldn’t convert. Got it down to 9 late in the half but Seminoles scored the last seven points.

Score not indicative of this game. These teams are relatively evenly matched. Tigers might have missed 8-10 shots near the rim they most often will make. Having said that, Seminoles are tough. They are vulnerable to pressure defense but are hard to guard in the halfcourt. Should be a good tournament team until Hiland Hawks get in the way.

46-45 near the middle of the 4th.

I’m not sure I’d say the score wasn’t indicative of the game. MC jumped out to a 10-0 lead and basically led by double digits the rest of the game other than a 4-5 minute stretch in the late 3rd/early 4th. Having said that I believe if those two teams played again you might see a closer game. MC shot the ball fairly well I thought.

Final score ended up 65-52.

MC withstood an amazing run in the 3rd and half of the 4th where Marietta couldn’t miss if they tried. And yes they turned over MC multiple times with the FCP. MC started handling the pressure well and they went on a run themselves to close the game out.

Good game by both teams. Good luck to the Tigers

I actually expected the score to be higher with the styles of both teams. As far as whether the score was indicative of the game, I would just look at the fact that MC beat Warren and Marietta by similar scores and I really think those two teams are fairly evenly matched. MC just appears to be 10 points better than them IMHO. I do think the discipline of Hiland will be the challenge but I applaud MC for putting together this schedule to get prepared for that game in particular. Best of luck to both teams moving forward.

Went to the game last night, really really impressed with MC. Obviously knew a lot about their stars since they were also great on the football field, but love the way they play - physical, under control, share the ball, rebound. Once they figured out Marietta's press in the 3rd Quarter they were able to get back on track.

Where would a district final be played?

Most likely it will be Monroe vs Hiland in the district finals. Last year this game was played at Union Local. Hopefully they find a bigger venue if the teams meet up again.

Definitely deserves a bigger venue, but I can see them playing it again at Union.

Wish the Ohio University Eastern campus ECO Center could host District games.
The OVAC finals in the 5 divisions are back there again this season. Great venue.
Hiland seems to win District titles wherever its located. MC's schedule is a good one.

after listening to the people who run the ECO center they were told to get ready for some tournament games .what divisions they will be they dont know yet. OUE used to host games all the time until OUE dropped their basketball program.

Don't think the parking is that great there but it certainly would hold a lot of people. Not sure on the capacity but I am guessing in the 2,000 range.

There is an interesting possibility though. I believe the east district still allows teams to place themselves on the board. If they had the opportunity, and that would be a huge IF, would Hiland put themselves on the board to possibly play MC in the first round in order to get that game at Hiland? Highly unlikely but if the opportunity was there... I remember Rosecrans was a higher seed a few years back and chose to play Hiland early so they could play them on their home court. That did NOT work out very well for them. LOL

That would be a bold strategy for Hiland. Also I wouldn’t count out Malvern to potentially play spoiler in the Hiland vs Monroe district final.
