SE Ohio is a tad vague with it's boundries.

I'll stick in the SE district..in no order as that is not possible.

Tom Barrick.....Wheelersburg
Dave Young.....North Adams
Pat Hines.....Whiteoak
Maddox....Warren Local
Doug Stiverson...Logan Elm

THere are a few coaches I would not rank as high as others as they do not schedule enough better teams to better prepare their kids for the tourament....I know it's hard...but many coaches do it.

Of course all coaches with the big win totals are great coaches: Osborne, Jordan, Van Matre, Buecler, Wolfe, Persin, Caldwell etc.

Much of this forum does not get the opportunity to see Young, Hines and Stiverson coach...except for the Convo where they make it to the districts every year....there is a reason for that. Whiteoak has been to the districts or beyond every year since 2000....North Adams has made it 13 of the past 15 years...those teams don't have superior talent, they have good kids that play hard for their coaches and are successful EVERY year in the tourney.

A coach who I think is one of the best in se Ohio is Lafon of Ironton.

..IF I have to go with a top 5 in the SouthEast District these would be my 5 head men ... defense/fundamentals/sideline "in" game coaching/game preparation ... these gentlemen do it right ...

1. Coach Doug Stiverson ... Logan Elm
2. Coach Tom Barrick ... Wheelersburg
3. Coach VanMatre ... Greenfield McClain
4. Coach Norm Persin ... Oak Hill
5. Coach Matt Combs ... Vinton County

... others that do it right ...

6. Coach Blane Maddox ... Warren Local
7. Coach Howie Caldwell ... Reedsville Eastern
8. Coach Dave Young ... North Adams
9. Coach Pat Hines ... WhiteOak
10. Coach Kellough ... Chillicothe
11. Coach Larry Jordan ... Southeastern
12. Coach Uhrig ... Huntington HS
13. Coach Osborne ...Gallia Academy
14. Coach LaFon ... Ironton HS
15. Coach Barr ... Fairfield Union

... one thing we are blessed with Below the Line is a "whole bunch" of outstanding coaches ... we have some that are now in the stands that I'd like to see back courtside somewhere ... Coach Warner, Coach Kreischer,Coach Butcher to name a few - these men would be on my list as well ...

pfloyd, have a funny feeling Kreischer will be back on the sidelines in a head coaching position as soon as #4 retires. He's a smart guy, after all he's a Lexington alum!

coach Barrick averages 19.6 wins while only losing 4.4 games per year since coming to wheelersburg in 1994-95. :-D

Coach Derrow at Wellston has won 60% of his games over a 22 year period. The last 4 seasons have dropped that pct from close to 68%.
He has won close to 300 games, something like 280 +

Norm Persin definitely gets 1st or somewhere near 1st, also hard to overlook Coach Caldwell of Eastern-plus 300 wins=and Pfloyd, I like the comment about the Fairfield Union coach> Go Fairfield Union Falcons!
