Hank leslie from northwest has been real good all season, but since he's just a sophmore he probably won't even be mentioned!!

's NWLeslie's good, but not player of the year good. He plays the post offensive position nicely.
There is a lot more to the game to be considered (ballhandling, assists, defending, Basketball IQ, shooting inside and outside, making your teammates better when you are one the court, leading, rebounding and posting up). Those are player of the year things.

Sounds like Drew Spradlin to me.

Another for northwest that has also been pretty good is Stefan(sp?) Spriggs..he has won two SOC 2 games for northwest by hitting two buzzer beaters! Also all other games he has played pretty good...but yeah I would say he is second or third best in the SOC 2.
Here are my top three:
1. Spradlin (burg)
2. Walls (waverly) or Spriggs (northwest)
3. Walls or spriggs
Others to be mentioned: Sean Smith (minford)
Boyce Jordan (west)
Hank Leslie (northwest)
Nathan Brandanburg (west)
Kyle Ondera (oak hill)
But smith is only a junior. Leslie is only a sophomore. Ondera only a sophomore.

Kyle Ondera has been huge, night in and night out. Oak Hill goes as he goes.
Best point guard in the SOC 2 by far.

Actually, I think Matt Jenkins is the best point guard, but both are good.

Spradlin is the POY in the soc2. I think Jenkins is a better point gaurd also. Sean Smith from Minford has had a very nice year. Walls from waverly also.

So what is the thinking now that Symmes Valley has won the SOC title? Surely at least one of those boys must be in the running. Thoughts?

Does the Player of the year come from the team that wins the SOC 1 and 2???

by vikingfan
Not necessarily...but surely if the team has won the SOC these boys should at least be part of the discussion?

my feelings on the whole P.O.Y. is it should go to the player with the best stats. PERIOD. the best TEAM wins the league, but the best PLAYER should get player of the year, and the best PLAYER isnt neccesarily always on the best TEAM... IMO...

I disagree with that. I think the schedules should play a factor also.

It cant just be purely statistically oriented. What about guys who havent played the fourth quarter all year because their team wins so badley. It shouldn't just be who wins the SOC either. It should be who is the best player.

In the SOC 1 The best all around player I have seen is the Howell kid from New Boston. The best Shooter is Dickerson from East, If he would play Defense he would get the nod over Howell. Thats just my Pick im sure there are planty of other opinions.
In the SOC 2 Spradlin!
