Post by classof86 »

Eastern finished the season with an ok record. What do you think about the next few years?

I think the eagles are a lot better than their record shows. About the next few years, can't really tell ya. What players are they losing this year.

from the book at the Convo it looked like they were starting just about all sophmores agaisnt Western?

If that is the case they should be in good shape for the next few years.

With the JV team moving up and only losing one senior they will more than likely have a 12-15 win season next year. The year after that I look for the Eagles to have their year with a deep tournament run.

They are pretty well set for the next two seasons... Theres a lot of talent out of that sophmore class... Lynch is a great athlete, along with Johnson, Winebrenner, and Pierce

They lost more than just 1 senior. There were 4 seniors, 3 of which saw alot of playing time. Rawson and Collins usually started and Burroughs went in quickly. What is the problem with people giving the seniors credit?

i dont think he realized collins and burroughs were seniors. I think they need to get some of those jv boys on the court next year to get some experience before you really battle test them

I think alot depends on whether Coach Caldwell returns or not.

I think Pierce might come "home" too. :122248 Just a thought......

I believe our Eagles are already excited about next year. Having made it to the Convo with the youth on the team is a great accomplishment. That tournament experience will show next year. Good luck next year fellas!!

Reedsville was never off the map technically. Since they made it to the Final Four 6 years ago, people have always kept an eye on them, and Cozart got them looked at as well. Thats only been two years.
They will have a good team next year and a few years to come. The JV team was very good, I dont know their their final rercord but they had fewr then 5 losses. Even though they had 4 seniors graduate, Rawson was the only scorer. Mikey Johnson (starter), Jake Lynch (point gaurd), Kelly Winebrenner (starter most of the time), Titus Pierce (starter some, good quality playing time) are all sophomores. With those four back, they will have alot of experience.
I believe Coach Caldwell will stay for a few more year. In my opinion.

Eastern will definitely be missing Rawsons leadership next year...but I'm sure someone else will quickly take the reigns. And this eagles team is loaded with Super Sophomores and Even a few Diaper Dandies (on the JV team). I'd watch out for them in years to come...hopefully they can get a really tall transfer student or jumpin mike johnson grows a few more inches.(lol) Some size definitely wouldn't hurt them...but they proved this year you don't need size to win. Good luck to the eagles in the coming years...and watch out for Jake Lynch--pretty soon he'll be talked about in the same conversation as the best athletes in the area...

The local newspaper had them at 8-14. The interesting thing was they had 4th qtr leads in 20 of 22 games (again according to the newspaper).

Is that stat right?
What were the two games?

I am sure they never led in 4th qtr at RV in the season opener. I could be wrong but I don't think they led in 4th qtr vs RV at Eastern. In the game at Eastern the Eagles were up at halftime but RV had big 3rd qtr to retake the lead and I thought they maintained that lead throughout the game. Might have been tied a time or two.

I am pretty sure that they led in the 4th quarter @ RV. That was one of the couple games that I saw Eastern play. I remember them being down but came back strong early in the 4th. I maybe wrong though...

Maybe, they should definitely win at least 12 games next year. The tvc hocking will be down next year. They have a decent shot at the winning the league next year, but it is wide open. Fed hock is always good, so you have to beat them. Waterford loses some good leadership and some good seniors, but you can't count them out returning the two best players in the league in Cunningham and Strahler. Depth and lack of leadership will be waterford's problem. But I really do like Eastern's chances because I know they were a young team this year and got better every game. I really like Lynch and Johnson. Hopefully Caldwell comes back. Although fed hock loses some key players, you can't forget about them.

I really like what Titus Pierce brought to the floor this season. I hope he hangs around for a couple more years because the Eagles will be awesome in 2009-2010 :!: ;-)
