SOC-1 Favorite to win the league

As I stated earlier, this is my assessment of the SOC 1 next season.

I think Western will be tough again with Shanks, Smithson, and the point guard returning, but losing Kier will hurt them.

Eastern-Pike has everyone back I believe, but stuggled last season.

Symmes Valley has one of the Tibbs boys back and a very talented JV group to add to him.

Green returns alot of solid talent, but yet to have a coach.

New Boston lost the farm. (Howell and Bowling)

Notre Dame lost alot of seniors, but have an excellent freshman class coming..

Clay shouldn't be very strong as their JV team was very weak and they lost their big center.

East lost Mault, Dickerson, and the Collins kids but had an outstanding JV team moving up.

All that said, who are you picking to win the league next season? Will Western dominate or can Eastern return to its former prominence?

I'll pick Western, but think the eagles will end up second next season. What say you?

East losses T. Mault,Dickerson,Bailey, and the Collins twins....but they return C. Mault, Hood, Garret from the varsity along with the best JV team in the SOC and Rawlins who moved in from out of state next year, if they can add a big kid to this group they could be hard to beat

Tartanblue,

What do you know about the move-in?

And you are right, with the JV team that East has, they will not be an easy out either!

Really don't know alot about him, he was cleared to play by the OHSAA the last couple games of the year where he started playing at his old school and moved in from out of state. From what I saw I was impressed and think he will help the team out greatly, he read the ball off the rim very well on some misses that his teammates shots didn't fall and made good put back shots up. With him, Messer, the other Garret coming up to varisty along with Sparks, East could be even better than last year.

Notre Dame returns 4 of the 5 starters from last year Noel ,Delabar,Fitch and Kammler . They will give people some trouble and maybe make a run for S.O.C.

I am glad to finally seeing some ND faithful on the site after so long....I don't see them finishing last but I can honestly say I do not see them contending for the SOC I. If they do I will admit I was wrong but I don't see them improving 12 wins over last year to compete as I think the SOC I winner will only have 2-3 SOC losses

Green was loaded last season. I believe they lost their big man (that will hurt), but they still probably have the best group of "basketball players" back talent wise from what I've heard (right up there with Western)

i would say it will come down between eastern and green.. i think thats one game the eagles are going to have to slow it down and take green out of there game.. green pushed the ball against the eagles and just out hustled them.. eastern has all the talent and guys to win the league its just about how bad they want it.. I also think last year the eastern players didnt play up to the ablility because they were scared to mess up.. im not the coach and i think coach fitch will be a fine coach but i think he needs to let the kids play alittle more next year and not take them out for every mistake they make.. talk to them and build there confidence and i think the kids will play alot more for you

SeetherFan,

I think you are correct. I watched some of the Eastern games last year and when somebody messed up they were taken out of the game. You can not do that. Everybody makes mistakes and the only way to beat them is to get a second chance. That is what Coach Fitch needs to do.
